Default Joanmarie, question for you

In a different thread you said this

"They wouldn't do plasma exchange because they said they lost 3 MG patients doing it in just that month. So I live quitely, when weakness starts, I stop, thats all I can do. "

Some of us asked if that actually meant that people are dying because of plasma exchange? You may not have seen our questions though so I started a new thread to ask it.

Thanks.

Sorry, I was at Dr's most of yesterday and just now saw this. The patients died from infection at the port site. I was confused by this and the Dr said that the patients all got a staph infection. They don't do plasma exchange where I live so my primary neuro sent me to Baptist Hosp where it is done and the Dr. there is the one who wouldn't do it. Plasma Exchange did NOT kill the patients, it was the staph infection that did it. I am thinking of trying for it anyway.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think I would go to the place where they were getting the staph infection at.

Heart Hi Joanmarie!

Hi Joanmarie!
Holy smokes! They lost 3 people! 3! That is unheard of! Where on earth are they doing this?

I have had sooooo many incision sites, but haven't been afraid before, but this scares the heck out of me!

Do they forget to wash their hands @ the hospital? WTH? I have never heard of that b/4!

If you really need to get the plasma exchange, maybe you can go somewhere with a better rate.....that hosp sounds like it should be on 60 minutes or something..........

How are YOU feeling today? Are you feeling better?

Big hugs!
ERin

Erin, roflmao that was funny, it was in NC and I honestly think the Dr. just said that because he didn't want to be bothered. {I honestly believe that} He did tell me that they were elderly men but he still didn't want to take the chance. I myself, today don't care, maybe it's the full moon but I just don't care, am angry and tired.. ok, enough of my rant, tomorrow will be a better day
