i'm new. on mestinon and prednisone. almost up to the max. dosage of pred. have been adding 5mg every 5 days to a max of 60mg. i've been told this will continue for some time. i'm tolerating both well. there are side effects but i deal with them. the mg is far more debilitating than the drugs and before treatment my condition seemed to be worsening.

Hi motorhead, welcome to this forum!
Since you are to take high dose of Pred for quite some time, you should take some precautions against osteoporosis (high calcium and vitamin D diet), potassium depletion (eat bananas, nuts, green vegetables…), eat low fat- low sodium-low sugar food and as far as glaucoma and cataract are concerned, see your ophtalmologist regularly…
Maurice.

I went to see my GP on Friday, and asked him if my iron could be low. He said he doubted it would be but would check it for me. Low and behold it was low, and he rang the afternoon I got the blood test to tell me to start taking an iron supplement. I'm so thankful he is willing to listen to me and take action when needed. Hopefully I will start feeling a little less tired now

Teeth Hi Redtail!

Sounds like you've got a great dr! YAY!

That iron should kick in shortly and you will feel GREAT!

I hope everyone has had a good day today. Sorry to hear Erin was in the hospital and Pat was feeling bad. I hope Mary is feeling better after surgery and I hope everyone else is doing alright. I haven't been on in a couple of days so I need to get caught up. I had a problem with my leg this past weekend and you were all there for me and I just wanted to thank you so much for your help. It was a new problem for me but a familiar one to many of you. What a wonderful place this is. I hope everyone has a really good day tomorrow.
