Erin ~ that is great that your pred has been reduced. I think that when you go through the swallowing issue that it puts this whole "extra weight" thing in perspective. But we all want to feel and look good for our own positive self image. Hope that you are feeling good.

LOL; You know it. If you've gone through the unable to swallow it does put it all in perspective. I lost more than I weigh now through this whole thing and have been trying to gain weight (good weight though.)

I've resisted any mention of steroids at every step. The only time I've taken them was during my crisis to try to speed up the repair of the damage to my lungs. I was weaned off them as soon as possible.

Wasted away to a shadow of my former self

edit: it doesn't like me posting img tags ...

Help Hi rezmommy!

Hey hon! It DOES put it all in perspective, though I just wish I did not have to choose to be thin or healthy - I would (of course) choose HEALTHY, but it still hurts like heck when people who haven't seen me in a while are shocked and say things like "You used to be so thin!"! I just want to SMACK them! I have not become lazy, but the pred does add weight - it just does! It also keeps me alive! What a pain!

I guess the whole swallowing thing affected me more than I thought, b/c I refuse to go anywhere without my drink (complete with spoon).....it was just so scary toward the end - maybe 1-2 ensures a day if I was strong enough....that was IT for the WHOLE day

Erin.

Brian ~ that is a drastic weight loss. Hope that this year is a good year for you.
Erin ~ I haven't got the actual comment about the weight but I can tell by the "look" that the person has noticed a "little" weight gain.

Brian, now that you are feeling stronger, the weight will come a little at a time. You have a great attitude and that makes such a difference.

Melanie, I know what you mean by the 'look'!

Take care,
Pat
