Default neck and swallowing issues

my husband just told me that i seem to be eating much slower. now that i think about it he's right. we always joke my mom eats slow but i almost am as slow as her. and my voice seems to be hoarse begin about 3 pm. neck area is also sore-not on inside like strep throat. a cold drink etc don't feel good like it does when you have "real sore throat". anybody identify with these?

Ohhhh yeah. Absolutely. That's the last symptom for me to clear up to call it remission, my swallowing is still difficult (but getting better) and my eating is slow. Fun in restaurants when everybody else's plate is clear and mine is still half full... waitresses keep asking if the food is ok

Default I can relate!

Definately, Xmas! It was the same at our house...My mom has always been a very slow eater...I used to finish my meals in 1/6 of the time it took her to finish...Now she's beating me...I definately agree that going to restaurants is a bit of a hassle now because of it...It's especially annoying because I often have to lean my head back when my tongue isn't working properly to get the food to move around....It's either that, or sticking a finger in there to compensate for a lethargic tongue...

But seriously, I notice such a difference now that I just finished my plasma exchange...Everyone says that my voice and speech are back to normal...It really is a great treatment!

Default Hi xmas!

HEy there! I have the OPPOSITE problem. The people @ the hosp said they'd never seen anyone swallow as quickly as I do....guess it's just fear from b/4 - when I couldn't eat @ all.

I used to eat really slowly, but now I wolf everything downin record time! LOL!

How are YOU today?

Big hugs!
Erin

I too can relate. In the morning it is not so bad but come afternoon and evening I am done for. When I am strong I eat fast like Erin..LOL but when I am weak then it takes forever to eat, if I eat at all.
