Default Eating and choking

I've had problems for years with eating. Sometimes it just seems like the food goes down the wrong way and I start choking and coughing to the point of my family getting worried. I just always put it down to eating too fast, talking when eating, or something like that.

Lately, it seems to be getting worse or maybe just more noticeable. Is that something anyone else has problems with? Does what I am describing make sense?

Thanks,
Shannon
