Add me to the list.
![]() That's so interesting, Rumpled, what your doctor said about finishing your food. For a while now, I can't finish my food. It's felt like it just wears me out to try to finish everything.

Hey Erin,
Yes, it is very serious and I hope everyone tells their doctor. My GP knew I had it and I told my neuro the first time I saw him in 01. Mine is so much better now compared to what is use to be. I didn't know other MG'ers had it too because I never met anyone with MG or 'talked' with others with the disease until I found this incredible site and all the wonderful people here! I hope you are feeling better today. Take care. ![]() Big Hugs, Pat |

I just plain get tired of chewing sometimes. I tell my husband that it's just too much work to finish eating. It's not worth the effort or the discomfort.
Along with this I gave up chewing gum about 5 years ago. Pure torture. Shannon Quote:

Hi Shannon,
its a horrible feeling isn't it, not having the energy or strength to finish a meal, especially when its so nice. Thankfully I don't have that problem to often, if I feel tired I'll have something easy to eat. Kate

hi,
I apologise for the lateness in getting involved in this one! Ill blame it on the time difference. I reguarly choke on my own saliva, once or twice a day. I can and have choked when eating and drinking. On the odd occasion but only for minutes have been unable to swallow or just have a weak swallow which is the weirdest sensation in the world. I was eating some baguette the other day and ended up giving it to the dogs as I couldn't do battle chewing it anymore. That was interesting, who ever said about leaving food. I have been doing that for months now. I get halfway through dinner and I can't eat anymore, even though I have reduced my portion sizes. I just feel full. Im a big girl and although I haven't gained weight I have stayed the same which is unusual for me as I can just look at a chocolate cake and gain 5lb! Ive realised Im eating smaller amounts across the day as I can't do a big meal, like I would have before. So mixed blessings! lol Thanks Rach |

When I was really, really weak, I would only eat after taking a nap or sleeping through the night. I kept a stash of chocolate by my bad, as well as Ensure to choke down. Now I cannot STAND the smell of Ensure - just makes me remember the bad times......: ![]() If you are too tired to eat, take a NAP and then try to do so. I also noticed that liquids were just too thin (kept choking) so I added some mix to make them a bit thicker - it really, really helped! ![]() Nasal aspiration is a real concern when you sound "drunk" or too "nasally" - this is not fun, so please, please do not push it. For me, that meant no soda for over a year now - just too darn scared to try one. Oh well! It's better for me anyway! Hope this finds you all stronger and HAPPY! love, Erin
