Hi,
I will be going to my new neuro soon., should I mention that I went to the old one??? I want to tell him about the mestinon and prednisone reactions., I want to try to get across to him., that I am veryyyyyyy sensitive to medications., and that small doses effect me easily even though I am not a tiny person, they look at me and say well for your size., that does not always work with me. What is the best way to start out with this new neuro???

I too can't take the medication as I am overly sensitive so YES tell your new Dr. Don't let them say "well for your size" Be strong and really get it across, thankfully my Dr. has seen first hand how I react to medication {2 ambulance rides later} so don't let them bully you and stand strong but again I stress YES tell the Dr. everything. i'm new to this myself but have 50+ years of experience with dr.s to draw on. and my grandfather was an m.d.. dr.s are reluctant to criticize each other. this is possibly being overly polite. it's almost a cya thing sometimes. on the other hand, you probably should, if not immediately, at least eventually, provide your new dr. with your complete medical records.
another problem today is the number of dr.s, i've got 3 so far. my mom was just in the hospital and somehow ended up with like 6. half the time dr. A didn't know what dr. B was doing treatment-wise.

I would let the new Neuro come up with his own assesment, all doctors tend to still protect each other, & you don't need to say anything about your last one that would make him think a certain way! Just give him any testing, & labs that you may have, & let him do the rest. Sometimes a fresh look is what is needed!

The new guy probably already knows you saw the old one. You don't have to say anything more than you saw him, he didn't see himself as an MG expert and so you are seeing this guy. Why even bring it up if you don't have to? Short and simple and honest. Don't make it about the old neuro, make the appointment about YOU, as it should be.

If it were me, I'd let the new neuro just do his thing. Like Mary said, use "fresh" eyes on the situation.

Size-ism, eh? Probably that and sexism. I had a Hun of a nurse insinuate that my MIP was -24 to -21 (consistently) because I wasn't trying hard enough. Probably a combo of the fact that I'm blonde and overweight. And the fact that she is passive-aggressive and arrogant. People have a lot of prejudices they're carrying around, which are a lot weightier than you will ever be.

I really hope it goes well for you. Just go in there and stand up for yourself. You have a right to get really good care.
