Default Need Help - Wobbly, Heavy Leg

I was sitting on the front porch this evening at my mother in law's house visiting when my leg starting feeling really weird. It all of a sudden started feeling heavy and wobbly. Does this sound familiar? I have problems with my arms feeling weak all the time and my eyes feeling strained a lot of the time. My legs get tired but I have not experienced this before. It is just my right leg. That was about 45 minutes ago (8:00 pm EST) and it still feels heavy and wobbly. Is this just another MG symptom I have not experienced yet? Thanks for any help you can offer.

ckitty,
I have problems with weakness in my legs all the time. At least for me, it is due to the MG. I have even fallen quite a bit recently due to no strength in my legs....sometimes without any notice other than just real weak. Take care and be careful and let us know how you are doing with this.

Simon,
I am sorry to hear you have fallen several times. That's no good. I hope you have not gotten hurt. Thanks so much for the quick reply. It's a really weird feeling when you haven't had it before. I guess I will call my neuro on Monday to let him know what's going on. Thanks so much.

I frankly wouldn't wait until Monday. Sudden onset of weakness is an MG warning sign. And if it is one-sided, it may or may not be MG. Please don't wait to call. If it gets worse, go to the ER.

Thanks Annie. When you say it is an MG warning sign. What do you mean exactly?

Any sudden weakness, whether that be in the legs or swallowing muscles or breathing muscles, is a sign that MG is rapidly getting worse. Right before my crisis, I had sudden episodes of breathing weakness where it felt like I was going to stop breathing.

Other "warning" signs of MG getting worse would be things like chest wall muscles cramping/spasming because they are so weak. Or generalized weakness increasing.

Any one-sided weakness should prompt an exam by a doctor because it may not be MG. It can be a lot of things like a TIA, stroke in progress, etc.

So, in case I wasn't being clear because I'm so frickin' exhausted tonight, MG warning signs mean that MG is getting worse, possibly to the point of heading towards a crisis. At the very least, an exacerbation.

Just take it easy and call someone to be sure.

Thanks so much Annie. I get it now. So far, it's just my leg, not my whole side and it's not getting any worse. Thanks so much for your help, especially when you are feeling so bad. I hope you get some rest and feel better.

Ckitty, I have the same problem but with my left leg. I have had MG over 18 years and this is the first time my leg has done this, I don't know if it is MG or not but it has been going on for months now {since I came out of remission} My Dr. says it is from fibromyalgia but I don't have the classic "trigger points" for fibro so I just let it go. I have noticed here that many people have many signs that are not typical MG so either MG has more symptoms then from 18 years ago or we are all misdiagnosed..LOL Back to the leg issue, I actually get a numbing but painful feeling and walk like I am drunk when it happens, stumble a lot, when it hits {which is more often than not} I just rest. Talk to your Dr. about it and good luck. Most important is to BE CAREFUL

Thanks Joanmarie,
I don't have any pain, sorry you do. I just am wondering about driving since it is my right leg. Really as the day has progressed today both legs are feeling weak and wobbly but mostly the right leg. I am supposed to go to work tomorrow. I am hoping if I just rest today that it will get better. Thanks again. I will be calling my neuro on Monday. I will be careful - thank you.

My leg problems occur in my quadriceps. They feel as if they can't support me. I can't feel them contract when I am wlaking up or down steep hills or riding a bike uphill. A couple of weeks ago I went on a long bike ride with my kids. I couldn't ride up some of the hills because my quads gave me no power. Then we got home and I about fell dwon the steps because my quads turned to jello and would not support me.
