Thanks for the understanding, Dorothy...There's definately some kind of immunodeficiency going on with a lot, but not all, MGers...What if there was an immunoglobulin deficiency, which was caused by the same thing which caused a thymus that no longer knows how to differenciate between 'home' proteins and 'foreign' proteins, perhaps due to chronic infection/stress. That deficiency caused a person to get certain types of infections often, ones, who molecularly, mimicked acetylcholine. The thymus then creates attack cells to acetylcholine...

I know that prior to getting my symptoms, I had a virus, and it was very very bad. I had a fever of 103.5 for 5-days straight and had to go to the hospital. Mind you, I'm pretty certain I had a thymoma during this time, and I was experiencing very mild, almost dismissable weakness. Regardless, after this infection, I started noticing difficulty swallowing. Why I didn't tell my doctor, I don't know...I think I was in denial, as my dad has dermatomyositis which affects his swallowing as well...I think I was hoping that my body was just a bit broken and needed time to fix itself...And the swallowing actually improved, or the weakness was variable all until December, when it took off...

Who knows...It's so complicated...I think we all have our hunches and should trust our instincts...Our minds see everything even when we're not looking...
