Default choked again

I know, you all warned me. This morning I tossed my four pills in my mouth and took a swig of water. I choked, but wasn't really bad. Then about 5 minutes later, I coughed up one of my pills whole!! It had gone into my lung! I kept coughing and coughing and eventually coughed up mucous with white threads running through it. Must have been my klonipin. How bad is this? I've stopped coughing, so guess everything dissolved, but still freaks me out. Can't find any info in net. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hiya,

I have coughed up a piece of bread an hour after eating it! When I spoke to my speech therapist she said it was likely it had gone into a pouch in the back of my throat, but boy did my chest hurt.

Ive not heard of it Annie so can't be of much help. But it doesn't sound much fun.

I take it from the post that we are supposed to do pills individually, because no one has ever told me that and I do as you do, take a handful and hope for the best LOL!

Hope you are ok
Love

I haven't actually coughed up any solids, but I'm pretty sure that I've been inhaling bits of the things I'm eating/drinking lately...My gag reflex is totally paralyzed lately...

At least you know that your diaphragm is working well...My speech pathologist told me that as long as my cough is strong, and I can at least cough up anything I inhale, I should be okay...Sucks to have to worry about that, though....

I'd think about maybe grinding up your meds and putting them in jam or a pudding of some sort to avoid that happening...

That must have been so frightening for you--sorry you went through that!

Smile Hi Annemarie!

Hey hon! I had that problem for years b/4 I was dx'ed , now I take my meds with either pudding or applesauce. It seems to really help them go down! LOL! I can take up to 10 pills without any problems, but if I try with any sort of liquid, it is a no go!

Other that - how are you? I've MISSED you!

Take it ez honey! Try the applesuace thing and start slowly - no need to toss back too many pills @ once!

Take care!
ERin
