Is it going to be keyhole surgery mama? That is usually a pretty quick recovery. No surgery is fun to anticipate. ((((hugs)))) my dear that it goes quick and easy for you.

That's what is planned, but there are a lot of factors here, so who knows what will happen. The problem is that I am terrified of hospitals, anesthesia, IV's and most everything else. It's stupid, but it won't go away. I have talked it over with my dr, and then with my husband. There are 3 things that must happen: 1, husband is there when I am put under and when I awaken; 2. no IVs or tubes after recovery; 3. will go home that night. I don't care if I am having a heart attack, I will go home that day. I told my husband that I will call a cab and crawl out if necessary.

Having this in over a month is driving me mad.

I start to wonder if having surgery for pain is really an intelligent thing to do.

If you are thinking drugs - most I can't take, and the others I won't take. Normally I just tough it out, that 's why 5 out of 6 kids were born at home with no meds.

Anyway, now that you know how crazy I am....

That sucks but I hope it ultimately answers some questions and provides relief. I have to have a GI scope done, just waiting to hear from PCP for a date, the later the better Should be lots of fun. Too many stomach issues to ignore though, wouldn't want to wait until it's too late, hopefully there's nothing major going on.

Good luck with your surgery. Sorry about the fear component though... I don't like the hospital, either.

I hope they are able to accomodate you! Fear can be so intense sometimes...

I tell you, though, you really wouldn't do well with my disorder! I was inpatient for just 4 days last week, but blew through 6 IVs over the course of my stay. At one point I had 4 in place... 2 being used and 2 that were the wrong caliber but we were saving them anyhow in case we needed them. I had so many tubes, wires, etc this time that you would have thought I was an ICU patient (but I wasn't). Telemetry (heart monitor) and all of those wires... the various IVs... a Foley catheter... plus I had this really cool heating pad thing that has two tubes coming out of it and is attached to a pump that circulates hot water through the pad, so it is squishy and warm and nice. The heating pad wasn't attached to me, but it was two more tubes to tangle up. Anyway... I think they would have just about had a heart attack themselves if I told them "no tubes or wires" and "let me go home tonight" heh. I am going to try that next time tho

I am so very sorry for everything that you have had to put up with. i sure hope that they start making progress in making you feel better.

I am embarrassed by my postings. I really am not a wimp in most instances, really. I know that it makes no sense to the sensible, so I will just leave it as it is.

I've been lucky in that I don't have much fear of needles... though I HATE being in the hospital... I didn't want to make you feel embarrassed, though. It is really common to fear that stuff. I just wonder what people who have that strong of fear about the hospital stuff do when they end up really sick and in the hospital.

My best friend had to get a HIDA scan (for her gallbladder) recently, and she begged me to come with for moral support while they did the IV thing. My mom gets really freaked out about the hospital stuff, too, ever since her breast cancer & chemo & surgery and whatnot. So it is NOT uncommon and it is NOT something to be ashamed about.

Sweetie, you didn't make me feel embarrassed. My own actions do, as well as drs and hospitals. (I never lost my feeling of embarrassment during procedures, etc.).

You take care of yourself and don't worry a bit more about me.

It's almost 2 adn I have to get up at 5:45, so will be heading to bed.
