I don't care for surgical procedures either, I don't like hospitals and I can't stand most doctors I come across (nurses are almost always pretty cool). I don't know how to tell you not to be scared but I am certain that you'll make it through this ok, I have no doubt in my mind!! Remember that the medication they give you WILL help you to relax, doubtless! Trust me, every time I've gone through this (and it's been a few times), nothing really serious but I did have my appendix rupture on me, I was scared. However, the medication they gave me prior to the procedure (surgery or otherwise) worked like a charm. You'll be sedated to the point that you won't be out of control (at all) but not full of worry either. Once they actual procedure starts, you will be out BUT under the care of skilled professionals who could probably do this in their sleep. I understand your fear though and if I lived closer, I would come to the hospital myself or at least help you through your fears.
I wish you the best and please, don't be frightened, nothing bad is going to happen to you, that's a promise!! |

I wish that you were right, but I've never had anything that made me relax. If you are really scared, they don't work.

Sorry I couldn't be more encouraging, I did try. At any rate, best of luck with your surgery and I'm glad that you got some good advice here, even if mine doesn't hold true. Take care, SJ |

SJ, yes you did, and I was an old grump. Thank-you very much. You don't know how much I appreciate you and others who are handling me with kid gloves right now.

((((((Mama)))))),
You know what a "research nut" I am -- right!!?? Sometimes, I find things that are totally unrelated to what I was looking for -- in this case I was looking for giftware collectibles for my store. I believe that The Universe guides our steps to where we need to go next to learn something or guides our steps toward helping someone else. I believe I was guided to this -- specifically for you: http://www.sedona.com/html/sample-of-process.aspx BIG HUGS. Barb |

Yes, you are are grump but anyone who's going into surgery has the right to bea grump! (only kidding). No, I just wished I could say something to help calm you but you've probably been through this enough to know that those meds don't work well for you and they need to know that, tell them. Perhaps they can change the dosage, try something else but others have given better advice so I'll shut up. For the record, you don't qualify for a grump, you should see me after 4 hours of sleep (like now) although I definitely look worse than I feel. It's tough getting old. I love candles but it's been a long time since I've used them, I'll light a couple for you. Again, hang in there and I'm glad to see there's some of the old gang here, helping a friend in need as always. SJ |

Moose,
I looked that up. It looks interesting. I will show it to my counselor. You are very kind. SJ - Thanks for pretending that I'm not a grump. I can live with that! You have made me smile, and your concern touches my heart. Thanks for the candle. I'm going to try to drive to town to run (walk) some errands. Wish me luck!! mama |

I know that I am begging for folks to come to my pity party, but if you knew me, you would know that I am very stoic except here and at home in private. I started to break down at the library today. I took double the dose of zanax last night and cried for what seemed to be hours before finally sleeping for a while. I'm about at my rope's end and have forgotten how to tie a knot.
