My husband has one of those indentations on his thigh. He does not have any neurological disease but when he was sixteen he had a severe cycle accident and was in hospital with leg traction for a broken leg (in those days).
Looks like the muscle is dead in that one spot - so yes my guess is that it would be to do with nerves or muscles dying.
