Default Nerve Disorder, Muscle Twitching, Bone popping

Hi, this is the 1st time I am posting here. I have read a few forums that all have some things in common with my disorders. I am hoping to receive some help whether it be mental or physical. Back in April I went through some episodes of having a tingling sensation in my left foot that spread to my upper left thigh. After going to the dr's I was prescribed Ativan for the anxiety that the pain was causing me. Then after taking that for a few weeks, the prickly sensation returned with a vengence. The muscle twitching (wasting) and prickly sensation spread everywhere even to my groin and my head. So I was told on 3 different occasions to take Benedryl and/or Claritin. Naturally that didn't work. I've spent nearly $800 so far only to still be confused. I have seen every dr from Internal Medicine to Psychiatry. The other day I finally saw a neurologist who is sending me to have a head MRI and EMG/Nerve Test. I think this will be beneficial but I also have swollen lymph nodes for 3 months, my bones are popping all the time, the muscles are twitching constantly, and both my feet feel asleep a lot. I cannot afford to waste any more money on dr's who just want to get rid of me. Could all these symptoms be stemming from nerve damage?...or should I see a rheumatoid dr as well. My bones feel so brittle and I have lost mass around my shoulder so the bone is sticking out in my back. I am so worried because now my gag reflex is gone. Plz help!

Hello. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I don't blame you for being frustrated and worried. It is sad is that you are trying to get answers, and it sounds like you are only getting guesses and easy answers from these doctors. I don't know why some doctors go into denial mode when a patient comes in worried about life-disrupting symptoms.

I have had some symptoms like yours. Mine was an immune reaction going on, and that makes a body react in a lot of different ways. Years before that, my ANA titer was 1:1080, very high, and the neurologist that ordered the blood test didn't read the results, I guess. The only reason I found out about it was because a year later, the computer kicked it out to remind the doctor to retest me. He was so nervous when he called me personally to tell me to get retested. The new test was still a little high, 1:360, and he dismissed that one too. A few years later, I was diagnosed with acute lymphadenopathy. A salivary gland biopsy then confirmed that I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I will always have it. This was in 1994, and my new, wiser neurologist also told me that it wasn't time for me to have a diagnosis for my neurological symptoms, and that I was normal for me. This was the kindest thing he could have said, because I had been sick since 1979. I'm still waiting. I hope this isn't true for you, and that you don't go years without a definite diagnosis.

I would like to hear how your tests come out. I do have a question -- what about your relexes? Are they normal? Just curious.

Good Luck,
LaVerne

Default muscle twitching

I'm new to the group. I'm glad you mentioned about going to get tested for allergies. I had post nasal drip, constant ear infections, hay fever until I used the saline nasal solution, Nasonex and Zyrtec. The post nasal drip partially added to my irritable bowel syndrome. I take Omeprazole 40 MG, flax seed, physillum husk. I'm going in for testing at my allergist for the first time. I started having eye twitching after my slight concussion in 2008. After a catscan with the contrast die and iodine I had a lot of muscle and body twitching, even with my jaw. I had severe insomnia at first and it has gotten better. I've also been on Seroquel for over 10 years. I know it can be a side effect. I never had the twitching until after my concussion. I also do the elliptical 1 hour 2-6 days a week to detox my body, for stress and to help loose all the weight I gained on Seroquel, and I do weights for my sciatica. I’ve heard it can also make twitching worse. I also take valarian root, homeopathic chamomile 30 c, lemon balm, ALA, 1,500 MG calcium, 1,000 MG magnesium, glucosamine, zinc, vitamin D, knox gelatin, liquid multi, cramp bark (for inflammation. Instead of taking ibuprophin & Tylenol.), fish oil, papaya enzyme, acidophilus critical care, ginger, reishi mushroom. I go to cranial sacral therapy. I also go to a chiropractor. I have to find a new neurologist. He told me that my twitching maybe the cause of my vitamins, which is ridiculous! I still have to go in for an EMG.

Default Muscle & body twitching after CT Scan Iodine injection

I've had muscle and body twitching for 3 years after my CT Scan with iodine injection. Immediately after my CT Scan with iodine my body started twitching. I thought it was anxiety, due to the fact it was after midnight and I had trouble sleeping as it was. I've had muscle body twitching, hypnic jerking, teeth grinding & chattering and insomnia since then. My doctor thinks that the reaction should have stopped by now. I really don't know what I have or what to do. I've already had thryoid blood tests and an EMG done.

I am particularly interested in the description of muscle wasting and the fact you mention the bone sticking out in your back. . . Has your doctor looked at and felt your scapula? If it is sticking out, that would be known as winging. A winging scapula with joint clicking, tingling and twitches could be caused by something called Neuralgic Amyotrophy. The “amyotrophy” is the part of the name that accounts for muscle wasting. Generally, this is more common to just impact shoulders, but it can hit all plexus sites which would involve your legs, lower back, shoulders and possibly your ability to swallow and in more rare instances, your breathing.

Do you have any pain? Was there pain at an earlier time? In general, there is pain at least of some sort with Neuralgic Amyotrophy, but it is not a requirement for that diagnosis. The things you describe though could be associated with this

Default Novice here but

Hi I am new here too but I would think the EMG would be very helpful. My Neurologist did his own EMG but sent me to another place for the MRI. My symptoms are different from yours. Good luck. Bill

Default Ouch

Hi. So this is my first time posting on this, maybe you guys can help me out better than my doctors can. ha. (This is going to be long, bare with me) So im 23 years old and about 9 months ago i was out of town on vacation. It was my first night of vacation and it was about 4 in the morning and i was fast asleep. I suddenly woke up to myself screaming bloody murder because i have the WORST cramp in my calf that i have EVER had in my entire life. I've had cramps in my feet and calfs before, however this one was way worst and felt deep in my bone. I walked with a limp for about a week after that. I figured i was dehydrated so i drank a ton of water and v8 drinks along with gatoraid and started eating a lot of fruit. When i got back into town after my vacation was over..the pain didnt stop. Randomly my feet would cramp up and the pain was so bad i would practically faint. Again, ive had cramping before, but this was different. After the initial cramp was over...my foot would go completly numb and i wouldnt be able to wiggle my toes or move or walk at all for about 20 minutes. This kept happening over and over again to the point where i was scared to drive, scared to move, scared to sleep, scared to do anything because i was scared my legs would cramp up on me. One time it happened to me in the middle of a shopping store and i was literally paralyzed for about 20 minutes until someone actually had to carry me out of the store. I finally went to the ER where they tested all of my magnesium, potassium, electrolytes, etc etc etc because they figured i was just dehydrated. All of the blood work came back fine and said i looked like i was healthy and fine so they perscribed me some valume to relax my legs and sent me on my way. This kept going on for awhile and then in the last 7 months or so i have had really bad twitching really deep in my muscles and/or bones (I cant tell which one it is) along with the cramping still. My legs and feet will twitch so bad that it literally feelsl ike there are bouncy balls bouncing around in my legs..but u cant see anthing moving from the outside of my leg. Also a couple of times i have woken up in the morning to find that one of my feet are COMPLETLY numb so ill have to take my hand and literally move my foot onto the floor so i can try to stand. My foot has felt like it was SERIOUSLY BROKEN to the point where i had to call into work one day because i couldnt even touch it without being in agonizing pain. It went away in about a half hour but until then i couldnt touch it or put any weight on it. I went to my primary care doctor and had her run a bunch of other blood tests, vitamin b12,b6,b8 tests, and they all came back normal. I also had an MRI of my brain to test for MS because it runs in the family and my family members said they had some of the same leg problems. Anyways.....im not getting any answers from any doctors and its to the point where its starting to control my life. It is so incredibly painful and nothing i do seems to help. Anyone have any ideas???

Default have you gotten an answer yer?

I had the same leg/foot cramps and then numb. They said pinched nerve, ddd, degenerative disc disease, herniated disc on my nerve causing it.
