Default Worried, fed up & frustrated

Hi,

I'm quite new here. I posted a few weeks ago but things have changed since my initial post.

Symptoms started as pins and needles, numb feet, a horrible numb sensation above both knees which felt "clammy" if I wore trousers. The dr thought it was marelgia pareasthetica and referred me to a neurologist (I had similar symptoms in dec but they cleared up after a week).

I now have tingly hands, the fingers in my right hand feel constantly hot and numb and I have a patch on the palm of my right hand under my little finger which is numb. My arm above my elbow has that horrid "clammy" feeling also.
My right foot is numb every morning but once I'm up and moving around it wears off and my legs are feeling much better.

It's been 4 weeks now, I only have another 4 weeks til my appt with the neuro but just wondered if anyone had any words of wisdom?

I had 2 weeks last summer when I had labrinthitis symptoms but the doc tells me that is not connected.

I'm normally really fit and active - I do lots of classes at the gym and run 3 times a week - I even did the london marathon this year. I managed a slow 3 mile run at the weekend but my legs feel very tired and even a walk in the park today felt like an effort.

I made the mistake of googling my symptoms which has made me panic even more. Blood tests came back fine, dr examined my eyes, reflexes and had me doing all sorts of strength, cognitive exercises and they were all fine. In fact on examination he said I'm perfectly fit and healthy. Why do I feel so rubbish then?

Oh and I meant to say - no other symptoms at the mo, slight lower back aches for which I'm taking naproxen. Sometimes get a buzzing sensation in lower back-pelvis when I bend neck forward or move a certain way.

I know someone with MS so that was my first thought but I realise there are many other things it could be.

Sorry to sound like a whinger - I know that many people have far more to put up with on a daily basis - I think it's just the not knowing which I'm finding difficult.

Hi jenbear,

It's nice to meet you. I'm new here too.
I don't think you're a whiner. It's always the not knowing that's so stressful.
I may not have the answers. But, I care, if you ever want to chat.

Take care, kyangel

Default Welcome jenbear

Try not to worry to much. Googling your symptoms can be scary but remember it is a search engine. You are bound to get tons and tons of data. On my worst days faith gets me through. I count my blessings sometimes over and over.

I googled my symptoms and was terrified. Most days are a struggle and I do not know what tomorrow will bring. I do know the sun will rise and I will get out of bed and move thru the day. God, the universe or whatever has given me a challenge. I struggle to rise to meet it, and I will give it everything I got. My greatest blessing is my wife, shes been a saint and my rock.

Hope you feel better.

Hi,

Welcome to NT.

You are a unique individual.

There are reasons for your symptoms.

Hang in there.

I would suggest you keep a diary or journal to refer to. It can be as detailed as you make it. Can include drs names and numbers, appointments, drugs and other things you try and how it works for you, sleep patterns, diet...

It is good to know that all tests don't point to anything major right now for you to deal with. At least you don't have 50 other things to deal with.

Keep asking questions... You know your body...

take care...

Thank you all so much for your kind words and support.

I've been keeping a diary of any changes to my symptoms cos I know that when I'm in the docs room I'll probably forget things. I'm also making a list of questions for him.

Thankfully I am sleeping really well although when I go to bed at night I dread waking up with the same old numbness or worse. Many of you have far more to deal with - I admire you for your strength and courage.

Today is quite a good day - both hands are tingly and the fingertips feel quite hot and sore, but that is all. I'm lucky to have the summer off with my family so I'm enjoying the weather - beach, nice walk and chilling out with a good book. Went for a swim today which was lovely, maybe that'll be my way of keeping fit as I'm not sure about running at the moment.

I hope you are all doing ok - thanks again!

Dear Jenbear,
My name is Happiedasiy and I am new here (first post!)
I think that everyone has given you good advice.
Keeping a journal of your symptoms is key.
Also keep a record/notebook of things you feel unusual to you, you might not think it is a symptom but your dr. might.
Furthemore any prior illness such as chicken pox as an adult, falls where you hit your head, car accidents, ect should be written down in a seperate notebook.
I was injured at work and my neck was broken. I had a cervical fusion at c 5-6 and 6-7.
I wish you well.

Welcome to this forum, there are many friendly words to be shared on here, and being able to share thoughts, symptoms fears etc can be a help.I have no opinions to share on your symptoms, however,I can empathise with all of them except the 'clammy' feeling. My doc was not as diligent as yours seems to have been, although she did refer me to a neurologist, who I am seeing tomorrow.
Keep positive and take strength from knowing that you are not alone.
The diary idea is a good one,and I think I'll start a retrospective one right now!!

Hanks again all - thinking back, I fell off a horse last summer and although I didn't hit my head or hurt myself i wonder if something was knocked out of sync - I landed on my bottom! Will definitely add that to my diary - even tho that was months before my symptoms.

Best wishes to you all!
