Default hello there

hello,

for the past 9 months, i have been dealing with multiple neurological symptoms from cervical spondylosis, c-spine disc bulges and a herniation at c5-6 that is impinging on my spinal cord. after diagnosis by a neurologist in march who sent me to PT and admonished me not to have surgery, i self-referred to a few different neurosurgeons just to cover my bases who wanted to operate due to my structural c-spine issues, but did not feel that the bulk of my neuro symptoms are related to my c-spine.

6 months later, little has changed. i am dealing with tingling and numbness in my arms and legs, weakness in my legs, vision changes, headaches, and muscle twitching all over, among other crazy symptoms. i have had two brain MRIs and 2 c-spine MRIs which do not reveal any lesions. i have been diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency for which i have been treated with a megadose for 3 months, and i am currently waiting for B12, MMA and thyroid bloodwork results that my neurologist ordered.

i am completely overwhelmed by all of this and my poor little family is suffering as well, emotionally, financially and physically. i am just here looking for some support and information from those who have been there in hopes of finding out what in the world is going on.

Welcome to NT

I too have cervical issues. It has been a lot to deal with.

Here is our spine forum

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum22.html

I've had neurosurgeons look at my neck. The majority don't want to do surgery. I've had a cervical problem since '92. Second accident in 2000.

Some of the things that helped me the most were cervical epidural injections X 3, Celebrex, muscle relaxers, mild painkiller, over-the-counter Advil Liquigels, Tylenol Extra-Strength, PT, stretches, yoga, heat, trigger point therapy, LED and infrared light pads, balls, Theracane, hot showers, Kinesio tape, inversion table, and other efforts I'm sure I've forgotten to mention.

It is difficult to get over sometimes. I am thankful for where I'm at now.

Look around. There's lots of info here. I hope you find some releif soon.

Welcome. You have been given a good place to start(Thank you
Broken Wings). Its very difficult when you are finding a diagnosis. The
process seems to take forever and all you want is a name and a plan;.

Hang in there. Let us know what happens with your tests.

Hi there.

Just wanted to add my warmest welcome to our little community. You are doing all the right things (getting your tests, etc.). When you have that info, you can come to the forums here and some of our more knowledgable posters will be happy to share their expertise with you.

Believe me, I wouldn't be here today (with no symptoms of neuropathy), if I hadn't come to these forums.

LOTS OF STUFF TO LEARN. And I still learn new things every time I post here.

You are in the right place and you have new friends.

I hope you have a relatively pain free day.

Keep posting hon.

Melody

Here at NT, while our symptoms and conditions vary, we all know how hard any serious illness can be on family life. This is a safe place to ask questions, seek support and vent when necessary.

what a nice welcome from all of you! thank you so very much for all the kind words, suggestions and support.

i tend to "wagon circle" when i'm under stress, which is a lot these days, since it's hard to talk about all this stuff with people who don't really understand--through no fault of their own--what i'm dealing with. it is a comfort not to feel quite so isolated in my experience.

i look forward to learning a lot, and hopefully being able to provide some support myself throug this forum.
