Default HELP! Scared...Surgery today diagnosed yesterday

Hi all, looking for help. I had a 7 month headache (1st ever) treated as sinus infection that 5 antibiotics didn't help. After fighting to see Nuerologist finally did yesterday and had a MRI and infusion therapy.....then the call. Waiting for call now as Dr said we need to do immediate surgery on unruptured anuerysm. I don't know much yet, size location or anything, just that I had to go back for MRA last night to get better pictures. What good news can anyone give me? Dr mentioned coil treatment but don't know for sure.
Thanks and please give me GOOD news.

Hi Rick, I really hope everything goes well for you. I had an unruptured aneurysm coiled eighteen months ago. Besides initial tiredness and losing balance etc. I have been fine. It is good that they found the problem and that it can be repaired now. Best of luck!

Hi Karen and thanks for your input!!! Waiting for Dr to call and get some info on size, location etc. Want to do surgery today or tomorrow. How big was yours? How long were you in the hospital? I appreciate your response.

Hi Rick, as soon as they found my aneurysm they put me in hospital but it took over a week to decide the best way to operate, either coiling or clipping because of where it was located. I was glad it was coiling as it was just a little nick in my groin! Besides a bit of a headache afterwards it was virtually pain free. I stayed in intensive care for one night and then went on the ward for another two weeks. Mine was 7 mm. I went back for a scan at six months and everything was fine and my life is completely normal. I don't suffer from headaches or anything and I feel really lucky that they found it and repaired it. I am due to go for another scan around christmas time and I think they will just keep an eye on it to make sure everything is as it should be. I know it is scary but the sooner it is done the sooner it is over. I hope you know soon enough when you are going. Keep smiling :-)

Default Update! Not good

Hi, just found out a little more info, aneurysm is in cavernous sinus and is a fusiform on the carotid artery. Waiting for surgeon to call but from what I read it is a very difficult spot with lots of nerves and can't be coiled or clipped. Any info on similar surgeries?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to NT

Yes, it sounds pretty bad. Initially it will, though. I'm sure you're in shock about all this. I would be too.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you on this journey. Keep us posted as you can. Look to a higher power to comfort you.

Thank you for you thoughts. I have several prayer chains on my side and do have faith! Just very scared at this time, just scheduled a CT angiogram for tomorrow and then meet with Neuroradiologist. Have my fingers crossed. I have had a continous headache for 7 months as aneurysm is pressing on trigeminal nerve. Just looking for relief from intense pain, 1st headache of my life and it lasts 7 months.

Thanks for all your support!
