Default Looking for any help with aneurysm

Hello to everyone. I am new here, and hope to find some information and advice to help me get through this period in my life. In August I was at work, one minute I was fine, the next minute I had the worst headache you could ever imagine ( I had a migraine one time and this was far worse), within the next couple of minutes my neck and shoulders had stabbing pain, my ears felt like they were sealed off and I had a horrible roaring in my head. I was rushed to the hospital, transferred to another, and found out I had ruptured aneurysm (subarachnoid hemorrhage - right posterior communicating artery), underwent endovascular coiling, was in hospital for 7 days then released. Neurosurgeon had me on pain medicine for 3 weeks. It has been 5 weeks since I have been off pain meds and have a dull throbbing headache daily, sharp stabbing headaches everyother day, and have noticed things are not right......confusion, irritability, fatigue, flat personality, just going through the motions..... Has anyone had this same situation and if so do you have any advice for me? Also, I go for a neuropsychological evaluation in 2 months. Does this get better? Looking for any answers. thanks, Lamb chops

Welcome to NT

You're going to like it here. There's lots of things for you to discover.

I'd surfice to say the worst is over. Recover may be slower than you want but you can recover. stress and anxiety are not yur friends. Deep breathing and meditation, stretches and whatever you regimen can be for exercising. It won't always be this way. You just may have a ways to go. Be patient. it will come. Listen to your caregivers. They're trained to get the best possible outcome.

Hugs and prayers

You've been through a lot. I hope the symptoms will calm down as your body heals more. They can do so much these days it just amazes me. My sister had an aneurysm decades ago and there was only extremely invasive surgery available.

Could it be depression you're experiencing from all you went through? Your description sounds like me when my anti-depressants lose effectiveness.

And if that's what it is, it would be easy to treat with meds and/or counseling.

I used to get migraines almost daily and whenever it reoccurs I take Topamax daily, a very low dose, to get the headaches under control. That particular med makes me very tired though so I only use it as a last resort.

Anyway, your evaluation is a long way off. Can you see your PCP for something for the headaches? Or maybe the surgeon needs to know what's happening in case you need a re-check? Take care and keep us posted.
