Unhappy Three failed back surgeries

Hi everyone, My husband has had 3 failed back surgeries and cannot walk. He is in severe pain and has hospitalized for nearly 3 months. He is on 45 mg of Morphine twice a day and 15mg every 2 hours for pain but it does not help. It just makes him incoherent most of the time. I am going to change doctors, I think, as a neuro surgeon did the surgeries. I'm at the end of my rope to help him. Does anyone have any similar situations. Thanks

Welcome to NeuroTalk Hope. I don't have experience with this but I'm hoping someone will see your post and offer some ideas or assistance.

Welcome to NT

Sorry for your troubles.

Back pain is miserable pain... and laying in that bed for 3 months would kill me. I would be praying to die right in front of God and all the doctors. I can't lay in a bed too long with my back/spine situation. Guaranteed miserability.

Just a thought. Since he's in the hospital anyway, why not get a referral for an anesthesiologist, maybe spinal anesthesia, like for child birthing, for a while, not that that's a good thing, but break the pain cycle anyway you can. He's really suffering.

Keep in touch and take a little extra care of yourself, you hear.

Prayer is always comforting

One more thought. My cervical spine issues causes me lower back pain too. My cervical epidurals X3 helped most of my lower back pain. Are they treating far enough up the spine, you think? That's just something I've found with my situation. Don't know if others can say the same about their neck causing them low back pain too. Still thinking with you...

And yes, my 4 bulging lumbar discs causes me a lot of pain... you can have more than one cause/etiology for pain, compounds the pain factor, so to say.

welcome to NT. i'm sorry for the reason you're here tho.

the only advice i can offer is to get a 2nd opinion.
i don't know much about this but i thought there was a way to implant a pump into the area of the nerves and the medicine could lessen the pain.
