Default very new to all this...

Hi! My name's brian and i am totally new to all of this...i've been suffering from fibromyalgia for about 15 years now, and have been using a cpap machine for 3 years, though, due to stubborn doctors, actually have had it for over 12 years, which explains a lot of the symptoms...i'd like to hear from others...about what you find works, as my doctor is not very helpful...

for example, i now seem to have a permenant lump in my throat and nothing i do seems to get rid of it (not to be gross, but it's more like a lump of phlegm that just sits there, making it very hard for me to breathe, or even eat a meal without going into a coughing jag that results in me spitting up the last bit of whatever i have just eaten...even if it's just soup!) i would really appreciate if anyone can share if they've experienced anything similar to my dilemma...

Please, be patient with me...as my typing is most probably filled with spelling errors...my eyesight has been affected by the pregabalin that i am currantly taking, though i am slightly more alert...thanks, hope to hear from you!

Hello Brian,

Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

I just wanted to let you know that there is a
Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Forum

Is it gastric reflux or more of a lump feeling.
Have you had your Thyroid checked recently? No previous neck injuries?

Is there any way of finding yourself a new doctor if the one you're seeing isn't helping you?

Brian, I was dx'd with the Fibro "stuff" back in 1999..I was 61. And went thru an emotional trauma that really HIT me. I've never believed it all. At the time I was given the dx from an endo doc, I had been trying to get a thyroid dx and support for close to 10 yrs....long long story here.

I believe in my intuitive gut that thyroid has so much to do with all this FM. I finally got my thyroid supported in 2002, no labs and this from an osteopath MD I had been seeing for my back for many years. This older MD knew so much.

I know many MD's believe FM is a basket of things that need to be addressed....I've been doing that for years with supplements and desiccated thyroid. I could write books on it all as my years are advancing. I sleep 8-10 hrs with a sleep combo I've come up with as when this FM hit me, my sleep hasn't been the same...I also deal with bodywide osteoarthritis. Have you worked with supplements for FM. Do you deal with other health issues? C

PS: I believe so many are dismissed on the thyroid because of the lab numbers...we are not numbers, we are symptoms and there are MANY with a dsyfunctional thyroid.

Default Welcome brian :)

I don't have FM....heck I might but I do have small fiber neuropathy. I've been using a CPAP machine for over 10 years. Not sure about the lump you are experiencing but I've never had anything like that that I could not eventually cough up. I know Yuk right ?

Hoping other posters will come along with good info for you.

Glad to have you aboard our wonderful ship (community). I was just being silly.

And no worries about the spelling or whatnot....I'm on gabapentin and it really gives me fits sometimes when writing, talking or thinking !
