Default new here w/ electrical sensitivity

I'm new to this forum and hoping to find answers to some of my health problems. I have adrenal and thyroid problems but the reason I am here is because I have developed electrical sensitivity and the symptoms seem very neurological. When I am under fluorescent lights (and recessed "can" type of lights), for more than a few minutes, I feel like all my "circuitry" is melting down. I get very weak, somewhat dizzy and disoriented. It becomes difficult to think clearly. Sometimes it feels like I could almost have a seizure, but that's speculation because I've never had one. My muscles also get very twitchy.

Since fluorescent lights are everywhere, it really limits my life. I've had to quit working (I was a teacher), and can't go to most stores, church, and many restaurants.

Anybody here have this? Any ideas for how to fix it or deal with it?

Thanks!!!! Amy

Hi Amy, and welcome to NT! This is a great bunch of people.

Here's the link to the rare disorders forum. That's the only place I can think to send you to. Other than that, feel free to look around and jump in wherever you feel comfortable.

Hi Amy:

welcome

I did a google search on your symptoms and came up with the following:

http://www.businessweek.com/the_thre..._sees_the.html

Also, there is a syndrome called Irlen Syndrome that you might want to read up on. It seems that there are people who are very very sensitive to Fluorescent lighting.

just Google Irlen Syndrome and see if it applies to you.

And keep posting. Best of luck hon.

Melody
