Book Hello everyone

I am a 42 year old female that is currently experiencing symptoms of Sjogren's with neuropathy involvement. Some days I am a complete painful mess Other days I can function fairly well. Most of my neuro pain is in my face..teeth and gums and outer ear. I have numbness and tingling that comes and goes all over my body, but mostly in my hands, feet and scalp. I also have Raynauds. The Sjogrens part causes all over body pain with painful glands and excessively dry eyes, throat, and mouth. I am currently taking no medication besides monthly B12 injections and weekly Vit D prescription supplements. I have been married for 25 years and have a 14 year old daughter. My symptoms began when my daughter was a year old and have progressed slowly over the years. The past 2 years have been the worst. I take one day at a time and try to remember to enjoy my good days and hang tough through my bad days. I have a great sense of humor which gets me through rough times. I hope to learn many things from other members on this site since the neuro part of my disease is new to me...about a year now. Any advice would be helpful... I don't want to take pain meds unless I get to the point where I have to. I am interested in treating the cause of the neuropathy...such as inflammation etc. Thanks Mary

Hi there, just wanted to welcome you...I'm not quite awake yet, but someone will be along shortly to point you to forums that could be helpful. Glad you came, and you'll be glad, too!

Hello Mary & Welcome to NT!

I am so sorry for your pain. You will make many friends here who understand exactly what it's like to try and raise a family while struggling with health issues. As you're reluctant to take drugs, I'm sure you'll find a lot of excellent suggestions for alternative pain management stratagies. I agree with you, that a sense of humour is sometimes the best medicine. Heck, it's the only one I can afford.

I thought you might find the link to our Autoimmune Diseases forum helpful...

Default Welcome to Neurotalk--

--though I'm sorry for what brings you here.

Yes, Sjogren's is a beast, and often the neurological effects are the worst part. We have a number of people on our Peripheral Neuropathy boards with the conditon (or who are suspected to have it):

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html

Come on over there when you feel up to it--lots of empathy and good information (including how to handle doctors who've never heard of neruologicl complications with Sjogren's--hope you don't have any of those).

Default Welcome Sleeeepy

You will find a lot of good information and supportive people at the Peripheral Neuropathy forum. I am fairly new, and have been so glad to find and be a part of this board.

I look forward to seeing you around.
