Default New member seeking help/advice/information

Good afternoon. I am a new member and am not even sure I am in the right "forum' but if not perhaps someone will point me in the right direction. I am a care giver for a long time migraine sufferer. Over the past 6 years she has gone through numerous doctors and countless medication with no relief. The chronic pain has cost her job and she has no quality of life. Although I cannot imagine the pain, I can tell you that it is also very difficult to watch someone you love suffer daily and not be able to help(please do not take this as my complaining about me as that is not my intent). Anyway, after searching the internet, I am looking for physicians in New York or surrounding areas that treat migraine/chronic pain through a pain pump or the out-patient ketamine infusion therapy that I have read so much about. I saw some posts from people in western New York but they were dated. She is currently seeing Dr. Gosey in Williamsville but the NP that has been assigned to her does not take her pain level seriousl (the previous NP left the practice) and will not even consider the pain pump even though the previous NP was all for it before she left. I have thought of making an appointment with Dr Kreusz(sp?) in TX but if we can find help closer that would be great. Sorry for the long initial post but I am sure you can all understand the frustration in trying to explain your situation. Thank you in advance for any help/advice/information you may offer.

Default Hello there!

AND to say what a wonderful 'caregiver' you are to be seeking out this information! Sounds like there is a LOT involved with what your friend is needing! The GOOD thing about this 'bad' situation is that you have found a FANTASTIC place here at NT - all those bases can be covered!

Others have already pointed you to some very good forums here.....also I think you'll benefit from utilizing the 'search' feature at the top of the page and type in pertinent words such as "Ketamine Infustions" and "Pain Pump" and other posts will pop up with these discussions.

We do have a forum here specific to the Pain/Pump ..... also, the RSD forum speaks frequently of Ketamine infusions. You'll find these forums, along with the links provided above in the main index....

There IS much HOPE here! It's a matter of hooking you up with the folks who can give you specifics to what you are looking into.

There is a wonderful gal here (Screen Name "LostMary) who has recently had a PainPump installed and can give you VERY good input on that!
I will let her know about your post here and see if she'll get in touch with you!

Your friend is lucky to have you
Hang in there!
Rae

Default Thanx!!

Thank you so much for replying. I have never done something like this before and I want to reach as many people as possible and find as many options as possible. Hopefully, I will be able to find a doctor in New York state or surrounding states soon so that she can get some help. In the meantime, perhpas you can tell me how I can get e-mail notification when someone replies to one of my postings. I think it is something in my profile set up but I am not sure how to enable it. Thank you again and I look forward to exploring the site and hopefully getting her some help.

There are a couple of things you can do.......
Go to "User Control Panel" at the top of the left side of the screen

You will see a list under the heading of "Your Control Panel"
Scroll down to "edit options"
Scroll to "Messaging and Notification"
Put a 'check mark' in the options of 'Receive E-mail, private messaging
Put a 'check mark' in "allow other members to send E-mails"
Then, MAKE SURE you click on 'Save Changes' at the bottom of that page

The other thing I think you are wanting is to be able to receive E-mails when someone replies to the threads you post...... In that case....

When you start a NEW thread, you will see some options at the top of your thread
Click on 'Thread Tools'
Then you will see 'subscribe to thread' Notifications.
There is a dropdown box
Click on 'Instant notification by E-mail
Then click 'Add Subscription'

Then you should be good to go.
Hope this helps

Default Eagles do fly

Hi FlyEaglesFly,

I'm sorry that your situation has brought you to this point but happy that you found us. I can only imagine what it must be like for you as a caregiver trying to find help for your loved one. I suffer from a condition called RSD and mostly hang out on that side of our forum. I've never heard of ketamine being used for migraines but I do suffer from them myself from time to time. I also have problems with TMJ and recently saw a renowned doctor who gave me some botox injections for that. She offered to give me botox for my migraines but I didn't feel it was necessary for me right now. Have you explored botox for the migraine issues? I have experienced relief of my jaw pain with the botox injections.

Just out of curiosity are you aware of the eagles nest web-cam. It's on Vancouver Island and there is a baby chick in the nest that hacked a couple of weeks ago. Momma Eagle is taking good care of her baby chick and here is the link. http://www.hancockwildlife.org/index...ia1#new-camera It's best to watch on pacific time.

Some eagles soar while others tend the nest.

I wish you and your loved one well.

MsL
