Ooo Newbie

Hi,
My name is Bonnie. I live in the great state of IOWA...GO HAWKS.

I have had fibromyalgia for 22 years.......did a sleep study about 8 years ago and found out that I have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder....ugh.

If I can get restorative sleep, my fibro pain is manageable. BUT...have had to just go off of all dopamine agonists (Mirapex/Requip/Sinemet) because of the way my body reacts.

Went to a neuro at first...not very helpful. Went to a sleep specialist...had good results until mid March. Hell on wheels since then.

I came to this board because so many people with MS/PD take dopamine agonist meds.

I am a Mental Health Counselor by profession....work with US Postal Workers and their families. Married...five grown children...

HI,

that don't sound like no fun, at all. sorry you're struggling so hard right now. it won't always be this way.

Lately I've found taking a Tylenol Gelcap at night for sleep gives me an extra hour or so. I'll take it. Yes, sleep tames the beasts within our bodies. Relaxation techniques, yoga and slow belly breathing helps me too.

There's so much info here, I know you'll find something that helps you in some way. just let us know if you need to know where to find something.
see you around the board...

Hi Bonnie!

How were you diagnosed with Fibromyalgia? Can you list some of the symptoms you were suffering from?? Just wondering.. b/c I know it runs in my family and I've started to wonder if I may have it.
Thanks!!
