Hi there facegrace! Welcome to NeuroTalk!

You'll find lots of friendly and helpful folks around here. There is a special forum for depression. If you wait awhile, no doubt someone will come along and direct you there.

I hope you find some understanding and support here.

Default Welcome Gracie !

So glad you've come to NT!
There are so many caring people here, so please feel 'at home' and look thru the forums. Post anywhere you feel inclined.

I too have suffered depression for many years, so I can certainly identify.
Here is the direct link to the "Depression" forum, click on:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...aysprune=&f=37

I'm not sure how 'active' it is here lately. I peeked in there and the last posts were in May I think.
It would be great if you started a new thread there and share a bit. That would probably kick the forum back in gear.

Depression and Pain go hand in hand, so no doubt depression discussions are scattered everywhere, since the majority of NT people do suffer pain, which of course can lead to depression.
I just want you to feel welcome here and many others will embrace your battle as well.
If you start a thread in the Depression forum, I'll be lookin for it and I'll latch on to it and we can share.

Thank you for introducing yourself!
Hope to get to know more about you!
Rae

Hi there:

Just wanted to stop by and say Howdy and Welcome.

Sometimes we have to go out of our comfort zone and try new things. I found a great new hobby that, besides de-stressing me BIG time, also happened to be a great way to feed my family.

I discovered sprouting. I have two shelves in my kitchen, I sprout all kinds of stuff and they all go into my salads and anything else I make.

This is perhaps the best thing I have ever done for myself. And often, when I am stressed or just plain old put out for some reason or another, I walk over to my sprouting shelves, look at all the trays that I have on my shelves, and all the beautiful sprouts that are growing (that I have done), with no soil, and just a bit of water, and I see how they are greening up, well, you have no idea how your body just goes into a relaxing mode and you just CALM DOWN.

And as my sprouts grow taller and greener, and I then harvest them, put them in ziplock bags and store in my fridge, I know that I have grown my family's food for the week, and it is absolutely delicious.

And because you have kids, this is a great family adventure that you can do together. It would set you and your children up for good eating down the road.

If you want to see any of my sprouting videos on youtube, just let me know and I'll send you a link.

And it's cheap, believe me I save BIG money on my food bill and I get all those anti-oxidants which go into my body and as I tell myself "into my brain".

My landlord even said to me "I see you humming about in your kitchen at night and I know you are doing your sprouts".

Her daughter actually asked if she could come in and see my sprouting shelves.

She told me "My mother said she came in and saw your sprouts and you GROW YOUR OWN FOOD???" I laughed and said "sure come in".

Next thing I knew I was down in their basement showing them (on their computer), my sprouting videos, and teaching all of them how to sprout.

I gave them all little packages of seeds and they already had mason jars and they started growing their own sprouts.

It's a great de-stresser, believe me.

So if you think you are in need of a new hobby that you think your kids might like to join you in, just let me know.

There's wonderful food out there that you can grow in your kitchen. With no soil, no bugs, just trays or mason jars. I do both.

Best thing I have ever done.

Take care,

Melody
