Hi everyone,
3am here, oops no after 4 now, Guess we have all been there, the long sleepless night. BUT I have found this site so not all bad. I have sciatica and have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease by a spinal consultant. I disagree however (HOW VERY DARE I ) MY spine is fine . . . after a successful microdiscectomy 8 years ago. After a visit to a young physio, who told me I had post traumatic piriformis syndrome, everything clicked and all of the symptoms for this problem just matched mine completely. HOORAY ! ! Well here I am 6 months later and the consultants diagnosis 'trumps' my lovely physio's so I am still stuck with the DDD diagnosis. I am nearly at my witts end as it is so difficult to make any progress trying to find a consultant (in England) who will recognise a piriformis issue. That is quite apart from the struggle with the symptoms and pain The main problems are bum, hip and groin pain as well as the sciatica leg stuff. Strangely it is my heel pain that has the most significant imact, as I get to the point where I am unable to put my heel to the floor, so can't walk far/at all. I have been told that mine is a rare condition, however, I am sure that a lot of people with sciatic pain may have piriformis syndrome. So I will be here waving my PS banner hoping to find fellow sufferers hoping to get an insight into how others cope and maybe be cured ? ? ? It would be nice to be able to feel the soles of my feet again here's hoping. OOOps just to say PS is due to fall onto my bum, over two years ago. |

It always thrills me to see someone come aboard this wonderful forum from so many many miles away! Thank you for introducing yourself! There are lots of us who are up thru-out the nite, so despite our 'time difference' we're all still together one way or another!! I'm sorry about your pain issues BUT! I sense you have an optimistic trait and sense of humor....this will take you far, my friend Many here will embrace your concerns, so feel free to browse thru the forums, ask is you need help finding your way around, and it'll be great getting to know you!
