Default Chemical brain injuries and fentanyl OD of particular interest

Hi, I'm Rhonnie - I'm a nurse in PA, background in communications; currently pursuing post-graduate work. Interests many, varied - family & friends, travel, outdoors, antiques, photography, landscaping, fitness, writing, gardening, cooking, reading, the Arts, music, advocacy. Active in humanitarian causes; Disaster Recovery responder with American Red Cross, have been a volunteer advocate for persons with chemical brain injuries for many years - I have a family member with a brain injury. I'm not on this forum to do research; I'm interested in communicating with anyone with experiences with chemical brain injuries and the aftermath and treatments (I have been a long-time caregiver as well) and I'm interested in communicating with anyone who has experience with fentanyl overdose (I know someone who died). I'd like to network to see if there are support groups for either, or people who are williing to discuss same. I look forward to talking with anyone about any topic. Thanks!

Default Thanks

Thanks for the hello and the compliments; I guess I've been blessed with energy and fortitude for the battle and the long haul. The brain injury is 30 years exposure inhalation/dermal absorption of TCEs and other toxic solvents. He's a walking miracle today...but it was a long, hard road...just glad he's alive. The fentanyl - a defective patch that unloaded full dose - woman died and left nine kids.

Rhonnie,

That's an Aquired Brain Injury familiar to me. Along with a bunch of TBI's and MTBI's I survived some years in the boatbuilding, cabinetmaking, autobody, and printing industries. When it all caught up with me I was hammered down pretty hard.

Good starting place might be a environmental health clinic for assessment...links to neuro psch evaluation could spring from there.

Please, do post in the forum link Darlene posted.

I mostly lurk, but we have some very good folks down there with a stunning array of experience.

Welcome,
Jeff
