Hi Angel,
![]() I have posted your thread over in the TOS forum because several TOSers have had botox shots and should be able to tell you about their experiences. Also please check the top of the TOS forum, there might be some information posted about botox shots. I am so sorry to hear of your accident. Ouch. I know first hand how painful those spasms can be and how hard it is to break them. What kind of doc have you seen? Have you seen a neuro yet? Have you had an MRI? What kind of tests have you had done? Sending you ![]() |

Hi Angel,
I have bilateral TOS and I have had two round of botox shots. I get them in the scalenes, pecs, trapezius and the like on both sides in the hopes that it will relax my muscles enough to relieve nerve compression. As far as I know (I am not a doctor, so i could be wrong) botox is pretty benign, it does not circulate intravenoeously, it is just injected into the muscle to deaden the nerves in a small area. Basically, it causes a muscle not to contract. When you are having spasms, that can be a very useful thing. I have found the injections to be useful, the first ones took about 4 weeks to start working, and were very short acting (about 2 weeks) of very good releif followed by 4 weeks of mediocre releif (but better than nothing). I have a second round of shots a few weeks ago and the doctor used a higher dosage in each muscle. This time it has kicked in a little faster (I am about 3 weeks out and starting to notice some significant improvement). It remains to be seen if it will last longer. Soem muscles it is important to be careful with, definitely ask your doctor how many time rpeviously he has performed the injections. Where are you? Do you have an official diagnosis? I'd be happy to tell you more or answer any specific questions. Johanna
