Default Tired, but ready to deal with it??

I am a 44 yr old mother of four, married 23 yrs. I work full time outside the home. I am in the process of trying to get a diagnosis, I am finding this not to be as cut and dry as I like things. I have been experiencing unexplainable yet severe issues with my vision, muscles, heart, joints and a list of other things that my gp always ended up attributing to stress. I have a brother with Lupus and several aunts as well as my mother have thyroid issues, so I have been looking in several different directions.

Anyway, in the past I have never pursued these attacks and often just got through the days and weeks the best I could, trying to pretend like I am ok, not complaining just taking lots of over-the-counter meds to try to deal with it. I am the "yes" mom/woman, so accepting that something may be wrong has been very difficult for me but I have come to the realization with this last attack that I can no longer deal with this the way I have been, it is time to get answers as I have been very restricted in what I can even do these days. I have never been so scared in my life, I pray for comfort and guidance and that's all I can do for now. I am ready to accept and deal with whatever comes my way........for I am strong with GOD on my side.

So, I made and appt and seen my gp and spilled the beans, so to say in July of this year. As I mentioned I have treated these episodes for several years with otc meds and just dealt with it, making excuses and such but have tried to keep record for the past 3 yrs since I realized there was a pattern of sort developing, once the symptoms would start they would last for a period and then it was like I was pretty much back to normal. Seemed very odd and I started investigating the symptoms about a year ago and it kept leading me to MS. Well I have had two episodes this year and decided enough is enough, I need help with this. My normal GP is on vacation so I saw a female nurse practioner, she was awesome, she listened much better the usual dr did and then check a few things like my eyes, as I have recently lost more vision in my left eye and she said I am scheduling you an MRI asap as well as getting you in to see a Neurologist, once MRI is done, I will make sure they work you into schedule you need to be seen right away. I asked why, she said you have extremely engorged vessels behind your eyes, much worse on the right side.

Well my gp referred me to a Neurologist who ordered several tests and send me to see an Opthomologist and had a brain MRI. The MRI of brain came back normal. Glad they found one..lol. Seen NeuroOpthomologist, everything was fine. No enlarged or engorged vessels, and he just told me I was getting older and when I am tired my eyes are having trouble focusing due to farsightedness? OK. So Neurologist ordered an MRI of neck, and spine. Also waiting on quite a bit of blood work results, specifically checking for MG. Swallowing issues have returned as has the drooping eye, but without the severe headache this time. I am not sleeping well either.

Just wondering if this sound familiar, so many other weird symptoms have came and went, I feel like I am going crazy sometime. Wow, that was a long short story....

Looking forward to talking with everyone here, seems like a great group of folks. Have a blessed day!!

Smile Be Blessed

I'm sorry to hear you'll having health problems. Be sure your GP have you tested for all neurological diseases specifically Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). My sister went through the same thing you're going through and they related it to stress. Her speech was impaired to the point we thought she had a mini stroke. When she kept complaining about these symptoms they were going to send her to see a psychologist. She went to another recommended GP and they tested her for ALS and this is what she has. This was a year ago. You seem to have a great attitude and that's what it takes to go about healing yourself. I believe you can heal from anything with the right attitude, thinking, belief and determination. I wish you the best and may God bless you with good health, strength and encouragement.

Hi. I also want to welcome you.

I certainly hope that SOMEONE finds exactly what is wrong with you. The sooner a diagnosis is made, the sooner you can get the correct treatment.

Mind if I ask a question? You say you have had episodes for years and have been using OTC meds.

What exactly happens during these episodes and what kind of OTC meds do you (or did you) take?

Thanks much

Melody
