Default crps with a little crazy

Hi My name is Melanie and I was diagnosed with last October when one of my special needs students dropped a chair on my foot. I tried to keep working as of december I just couldn't anymore.
The worst part of this other than the unbearable pain ( I couldn't have imagined it in my worst nightmare), but the feeling that I am going crazy.
I have been sleepwalking the past few months. Last night I woke up just as I was bashing my head into the wall. I wasn't falling or anything I was simply hurting myself.???????
I have also been seeing things at night. Sometimes people I don't know are in my room or I see shapes. I also fall asleep throughout the day sometimes sitting straight up or standing.
The Drs. are saying these things are not related to RSD, but I was normal once!
What the hell is happening to me? Is anyone else with this seem like they are going crazy?

Very nice to meet you... You are not crazy..but you do suffer with a totally mean RSD condition and for that I am really sorry... After reading your post my frist thought is what medicine do you take..I believe not just for pain but any meds as maybe these excursions could be from pain meds or interaction from a blend of meds you may be on... Did your Dr. review that possiblity with you?? Also do you have someone to talk to..I am referring to a councelor of some type..Our families and friends are wonderful but the longer we have this condition, it is good to have a 'neutral' person on board... so we are free to just open up about our feelings and RSD..Most of all..remember no matter where RSD takes you, it is a complicated animal with many different colored spots...It causes us all to have to step back and question ourselves from time to time..keep in mind..we are all here routing for you and there is no silly questions..We are family here and I welcome you to hang with us...

Hugz, Kathy

Hi. Just wanted to say hi and welcome.

What medications are you taking? Some medications have such serious side effects (such as hallucinations), well, why not post what you are taking, so one of us who knows about this, might be able to help you out.

As for the falling asleep for no reason, this sounds like narcolepsy. I knew two people who had this disorder. We'd be playing cards and there he was sound asleep for 5 minutes and wide awake 5 minutes later. I was in Florida visiting my parents and didn't know this was going on for quite a while.

I was the only young person at this table. Every else was over the age of 65 and no one had heard of narcolepsy.

I remember asking the wife of this guy. "Does he do this a lot?" and she said "yeah all the time, I'll be having a conversation with him, and bam, he's off sleeping". I told her "he has narcolepsy, go and take him to the doctor and confirm this"

I got a call after I returned home and the wife said: '"The doctor said he has narcolepsy. How on earth did you know about Narcolepsy?". I remember telling her "I watched a movie on this".

Now of course I have no idea if this is what you have. It might be a side effect of what you are taking. All drugs have side effects.

If this continues, you really should have a good talk with your physician.

wishing you well.

Melody

P.S. I have an interesting story about sleepwalking. It happened to me. Of course I have absolutely no memory of this. I was about 11 or so. I had watched a scary movie.

This is how she described that night.

She heard the front door close (it was after midnight), and I walked down the block. My mother ran after me, she had no idea I was sleepwalking and she asked me "What on earth are you doing?" It seems I looked at her and said "Mother, where were you? I was looking for you" She led me back to my bed in my home and she sat next to me the whole night scared out of her mind.

She told me the next day. I must have looked at her like she wss nuts because I had absolutely no memory of this.

So that night, she stood in the doorway and watched me as I slept. She said "all of a sudden, your arms went up, and you were about to get out of bed, and I walked over to your bed and pushed you back into bed"

This was the only experience I ever had with sleepwalking. Never happened again.

The brain is really something isn't it??
