I've been gone for awhile..was very active a few years ago. After
years and years of lightening strike pains to my feet and ankles, with no help from the usual meds, I've been on neurtryptilne and dilaudid, and ever since, for the past 2 years, I've had recurrances about twice a month, usually when I eat the wrong things. Although Dilaudid ia a very strong opiate, it does the trick for me and I would widely recommend it for severe pn sufferers. You need an RX. I'll be delirious when science develops a carb that is not really a carb. The closest thing are noodles that you can find mostly in Asian groceries but in California, in Safeway as well. Your body cannot absorb the carbs in it and it goes through your system without adding anything to your blood stream. It is called by the Japanese name of Konyaku. It now comes in the form of recognizable spaghetti but is offered in other manifestations as well. As a diabetic suffering from PN, I try to avoid MSG, ANY SPICY SNACKS, SUSTAINED high blood sugars, regular milk (lactose) most diet sodas not sweetened with splenda, all sugar alcohols such as malitol, etc, baked onion pieces in a can, popcorn, salt, bananas (good food but high glycemic value. Tofu products don't bother me. I've had the disease for about 22 years and at the moment, it hardly every bothers me. With lots of exercise (treadmill, twice a day, an hour each 15 grade, 3.5 average speed) gives me almost a full sensitivity in my legs and feet as opposed to 25 years ago when I could not feel my feet or legs. 16 marathons and daily exercise later, I've made myself healthier than I was years ago. If you are suffering, please be optimistic because, although there are few things more painful than PN , fully disclose your pain to your doctor and if, after a long trial, his rx doesn't work, go to the next stage OR GET A BETTER DOCTOR. if you are afraid of becoming addicted, believe me, the addiction is better than the pain....way better. the woondog |
