I am a graduate student at Cornell University working on a project aimed to better understand foot pain management in patients with peripheral neuropathy. I guess I qualify for what you describe. I am not a diabetic but have peripheral neuropathy in my feet. Have tried most of the recommended treatments from neurontin down to topical rubs. The only relief that I have had at all is a product called Briofreeze; it is an OTC jel and does well for what it is in reducing the burning pain. Neuropathy and its nerve killing effects has now gotten worse to the point that I am taking more desperate measures. Tomorrow afternoon I will have a trial inserted for a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I have been hearing that is can provide a great deal of relief although it, of course, does nothing for fixing the problem but it might mask the pain and make it possible to live with it. I'll take what I can get as this thing has absolutely ruined my life. I'll know more tomorrow but if you have any questions about this terrible affliction I'll be glad to try to answer them for you.
