Confused new member

Back has progressively worsened over the past four years. Used to downplay and think everyone exaggerated when they claimed back, headache, or migraine pain. Now I'm learning the hard way. The people closest to me think I over exaggerate my condition. Karma. Chiroprator I have been seeing, is not happy with the progress he had hoped my back would make. Wondering if anyone has my situation and any conservative ideas that I may incorporate beyond the PT, Electronic stimulis thing they use (which is awesome, yet only alleviates pain temporarily, and chiropractic manipulation. I have a sixth extra vertebra/Spyno.....(cannot pronouce or spell) and lower back arthritis which is eerie to look at on the exray.
Thanks.

Hi ~ I'm sorry you're having such trouble. I was born with an L-6 too. The neurosurgeon said that helped in making my spine unstable.

First, PLEASE do NOT go back to the Chiropractor!!! Any manipulation for a spinal patient is DANGEROUS. I have had 2 different neurosurgeons tell me that going to a chiropractor can either put you in a wheelchair or paralyze you or both. They both said that chiros aren't trained in the central nervous system enough. One wrong push, pull or turn, and you could be done for.

Have you had an MRI recently?? If so, what exactly did it say? If you haven't had one in the last year, you need a new one with and without contrast material. Ask your doc to order one. Also you should get JUST AN OPINION from a Neurosurgeon. If you spinal cord is NOT being impinged, then you probably should ask your doc for a referral to pain management. Staying conservative is the way to go. If you opt for surgery, you're going to be worse than you are now. Most people are. Pain is NEVER a reason for surgery. Surgery only corrects mechanical problems.

Best of luck and God bless. I hope you find relief soon. Hugs, Lee

Welcome, I have pain in my lower back. The thing that really helps
mine is a massage. Or heat.

I also have the migraines and neck pain. And also for these a massage
is helpful. I used to get lets of help from physical therapy also.

Sending you some hugs.

Donna
