Default Back pain and bicycle riding

I am a 62 year old male. Recent results of physical indicate all ok except for "severe" disc dessication in lower back. I do feel like my back's been beaten with a bat when I get up in the a.m. but am fine after a few minutes. Have been saving for a new tri bike and was ready to get fitted, but wonder if the bike riding will make matters worse. I didn't really ask my doctor directly, probably for fear of the answer. Anyone had similar experience who can offer advice?

Hi there. I'm a 63 year old woman with degenerative joint disease. I find that if I move, I MOVE!!!! if I don't move, I CAN'T MOVE.

You have probably found this out already.

You have been given the correct forum. Go and poke around and find some other bike riders who have been there and done that!!!

Welcome to our little corner of the Universe.

Take care,

Melody

Welcome. Is there any way you can try one out for a bit? Possibly if they have it stationery but you can actually pedal?

Then see how it goes (but be ready with arnica montana, heat/cold packs, inflammation relievers, etc, just in case).

You may want to speak to your doctor and/or one that specializes in therapy exercise for your condition. Possibly slow stretches before?

Good luck.
