Confused Chiari Malformation and Epilepsy

Hi! My 10 year old son has or had chiari malformation and sm. He had decompression surgery 2 years ago and had to have an emergency 2nd surgery to correct a spinal fluid leak. The evening after the 2nd surgery he developed a "unexplained" high fever, and my son was just "not himself". It was Christmas time, so we did not see our Surgeon again for a few days. When he returned he diagnosed my son with Chemical Meningitis, and gave him steriods to get rid of it. And changed meds which relieved fever. We went home 4 days later. Surgery was a great success! Blockages are completely gone.
Since then we have noticed sometimes it appears he is not listening, he swears he doesn't hear us. "Zone outs" have become more frequent and much more appearent so we had an EEG done and he has been diagnosed with Juevenile Absence Epilepsy.
Recently he has been complaining of numbness in arms, loss of mobility for a period of time in his legs and shaking in his arms. Had 24 hour eeg done, epilepsy diagnosis has not changed. Could this be another blockage in spine? Is it possible that the epilepsy is related to the chiari surgery? Has anyone else who had the decompression surgery developed epilepsy?
Would a new blockage cause epileptic symtoms?
I am deperate for answers no one can seem to give me, I just want to help my son. Thank you for any help you offer!
