Default Help needed please!

Hi all,
Just a few things about my situation and hopefully you can help. My beautiful 23 year old daughter was rushed into hospital last May ,after being misdiagnosed three times, with a subclavian thrombosis. After 4 days in intensive care the treatment was unsuccessful and she has had to live with the pain and partial weakness for a year now. Then 364 days to the year she was rushed back in with a clot on the other side. Luckily the treatment was successful and the clot has gone.
We are now after the year from hell, yes i even managed to do my knee rushing into the hospital and have had to look after her on crutches (twice!)looking at bi lateral first rib resections in September.
She is starting to freak out (understandably) and wondered if anyone here could possibly advise, offer tips to make it easier for her and myself as I will be her carer.

Many Thanks in advance x

Shocked Hey there, Nicolajane. Wow, what a year!

You & your daughter have really been through it. I'm glad you've found this place & hope you can find both answers & some much-needed peace over the coming months.

I'm going to suggest that you stop in at the Caregivers Forum. I cared for my dad in his final illness, so I know how hard it is to take good care of yourself & yet in retrospect I realize how important. Please spend time here: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum56.html

I don't know anything about thrombosis, but I used the Search tab above (right of center on the colored band near the top) & found it discussed most often here: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum24.html

Others will be along, wiser & with better ideas ! In the meantime, come back anytime, introduce yourself around the forums, get a few (((HUGS)))!

Welcome

It does sound bad for you and her. I'm very sorry you're going through this right now.

I suggest you keep a diary of things happening, pain levels, meds, appointments, date, time, name of whom you're speaking with.

I suffered 7 1/2 years of hell with cervical, TOS, scalenes/pecs, lumbar and many other things. My arms killed me ! ! ! ! It can be hell. I do understand. ((()))

There's so much information here. The "SEARCH" button above may help you find things.

A hairdryer on a stand saved the day for me. So many things I had to alter to accommodate.

If you're happy with her doctor(s), then trust that they'll help her in time. If you're not happy, there's others. Keep looking.

What are your biggest challenges right now?

I do pray she finds some relief soon.

Take care of yourself too.
