I have known about my basilar artery aneurysm for 10 years. It was considered unremarkable even just within structural mean. I have had stable serial MRA's since discovery; until of course as a birthday present; notification that it had enlarged enough to require intervention. I am being referred to a radiologist for coil embolization. Has anyone out there had the surgery and willing to share the details?

We've been watching my inter-cranial aneurysm for nearly five years now, so I have some idea of just what getting that "birthday present" must have felt like. Since we've already determined that my aneurysm isn't appropriate for coiling, & since i believe in being prepared, I am now awaiting an appointment with a neuro-surgeon who works with lasers. This is a great place for information-gathering; not a bad place for making the acquaintance of some pretty remarkable people too. They've been where you are & can tell you what it was like from the perspective of the far side of healing. I'm sure you've heard some of the horror stories. I am a recent graduate from Probable MS to Absolutely Positive MS, so I guess I should celebrate. Actually, it's a relief; being in limbo is frustrating.

I am currently trying to decide whether to treat the disease or treat the symptoms and I'm hoping to find some good input in these support groups.
