Default Fibromyalgia?

I am new to this forum and I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia after suffering from a lot of very scary and awful episodes (over a period of three years!) The symptoms started after I had a badly impacted-infected wisdom tooth (the root was right on my facial nerve) I don't want to go into a whole list of all the symptoms I have had but there are a lot of symptoms I have that don't seem to fit into the fibromyalgia list of symptoms.

I once had my legs just lock up on me and I fell...my husband caught me and then they started convulsing and it felt like a thousand shocks going through them at once (it was very painful)...is this restless leg syndrome?...It happened while I was out and about and walking around. I also had my legs lock up on me (accompanied by the same shock sensations) after going up a flight of stairs. When my legs lock up the muscles are all hard as a rock.
I have a very bad tremor in my right hand that gets terrible when I am hot (I start dropping things...if i am trying to eat...forget it.) I get extremely off balance when it is hot and my muscles all lock up when I am cold.

I have had mri's...eeg's...emg's....ncs'....and numerous other tests that are all normal-no sign of lesions of any kind or nerve damage or epilepsy. I also get very sore (feels like the day after skiing or lifting weights or something) after being in a sitting position for a long time. No stiffness in the morning...no general achiness...just terrible burning shooting stabbing pains in my face (triggered by brushing teeth, touch...etc) I get the same type of shooting pains in my leg and my arm and neck. All of my symptoms are on the right side of my body. The only symptoms that are on both sides are the leg symptoms. The neuro that diagnosed me did not do the pressure point test. He just told me I had it after watching me walk across the room. I am so confused. I hope that someone can help me...this is a second opinion...my first neuro said I had migraines.

Thumbs up

You have been thru so much. I'm glad youve found NT! Please use the link Darlene's given you. You can copy your intro post over there to Start your thread. There's a lot more traffic, & you'll be in touch with people concerned with fibromyalgia. I don't know whether your symptoms fit, but the people on the forum are pretty familiar with the symptoms--especially if you put all their experience together in a pot.

Since your original diagnosis was migraines, you could check that out too: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum32.html

What I think we do best here is simple one-on-one support. I've been here a few months, & I've learned so much about my disease from my "family" of people who suffer from a wide spectrum of this disease's symptoms. I'm bipolar, & it shows itself in so many different ways that judging by a few symptoms could lead in the wrong direction. They keep me going the right way--& give me virtuals hugs & lots of hope along the way.

Keep coming back, and tell us how we can help if you seem at a dead end.
