Default New do I qualify

Hi I am new here 48 years old and would like to tell you my story.in 1986 sister diagnosed with cervical cancer, 1988 I lost twins at 6 months had to carry them knowing they were dead for over 6 weeks then they had to be taken. In 1989 uncle diagnosed with larynx cancer and died, 1991 dad died from liver cancer, 1993 brother died from larynx cancer and mother has heart attack I started having panic attacks and depression that left me house bound for almost 5 years, I start to feeling better and in 1999 another brother diagnosed with lung cancer and dies in 2000, Panic attacks and depression return.. Nephew shot in 2002 but is ok now, 2003 ONLY SURVIVING brother has heart attack In 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer had mastectomy and chemo and 5 years of tamoxifen, 2007 husband has heart attack and had to have triple bypass, in 2008 I was diagnosed with major depression and panic attacks, Thanksgiving day 2009 my niece was murdered by her husband and then he kills him self, late 2009 brother had to have aortic valve replacement and thats when they found his lung cancer, In 2010 mother had major stroke and will not recover her right side is useless, I have been diagnosed with osteroarthritis, chronic migrains, 2 herniaited lumbar disc, cervical neck DDD, gerd, enlarged uterus, sciatica, planter fascitis, torn rotater cuff. In 2011 26 year old nephew had stroke that caused him to wreck and burned to death, Last brother just found out he has larynx cancer and another spot on other lung and I just had uterus biopsy and next week go for bladder biopsy (they think uterine, bladder or kidney cancer) I am being treated now for depression plus all the others am on 14 different meds that help with the all the junk but am so out of it most times can't think straight. I only finished 8th grade and was denied disability first go around. Does anyone think I have a chance at getting approved at ALJ hearing? There is a lot of other things I can't remember to list right now. I am getting worried I need the ins what I have ends in Dec and its over for me.
Thanks Emmy

Smile Hi Emmy

Welcome to NT! You've found the perfect place for support and understanding. I'm so sorry about these tragedies you've had. You are a true survivor, in every sense of the word.

There are so many forums here full of caring people.
In the main menu, scroll down thru the list and pop in anywhere, support forums of all types, and if you scroll down about halfway you'll find the health related topics.

Regarding the insurance, (I'm faced with this issue also!) you might check in with the SSI forum, here's the link to get you there
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum28.html
not saying you're 'disabled' so to speak, but there is some very good input there regarding how to get aide.

It's great to have you!

Hoping these words will help.
I got disability on second try (which is as good as anyone gets).

You say that you have insurance. If that is disability insurance and you are employed, then you have to write out detailed facts to submit to the ALJ. For example, what there is about your job that you can no longer do and why you can't learn to do another job.
You must document, for example, that for anyone to do your present job, they must be able to stand up 7 and a half hours per 8 hour shift.

Ideally you can find a supervisor at your workplace to write a statement that you can no longer do your job and give specifics for why that is true.

You need to visit a lawyer specializing in disability claims. He should be able to to give you a free visit at which he can tell you aboiut his fees and whether you have a decent chance of winning the cae. Once you hire him, His job is to provide guidance for preparing your case.
There is way too much for a simple post like this to explain about going on disability.

If you have disability insurance at your job, the insurance company will probably insist that you apply for social security disability.

To emphasize: Your paperwork saying why you are entitled to getting disability payments needs to be detailed, truthful, verifyable, organized.

The fact that you need the money carries no weight. You need to show why the insurance company or Social Security should pay you, according to their guidelines.

Good luck. you may wish to look around for other sounces on the Web. I believe there is a forum called "disinissues"

Default Re: disability

I am so sorry for all the pain you have had to endure. You are surviver and very brave. Of course you have a chance at disability. I hope also that you have adequate representation to help you through the process. Most people find that having that Rep. keeps things moving along. Doing the whole case by yourself is very difficult. I hope you have some support in your life to help you. I wish for you less pain this very minute. You are in my thoughts and prayers. ginnie

HI Emmy:

Wow, you certainly have had your share, haven't you. We do have one thing in common. My mother, and her whole entire family (5 bros and 5 sisters) had various types of cancers. They all smoked though. So we are talking lung cancer mostly and some had breast cancers.

I decided to do something about my risk factors by completely changing what I put in my body. When you have the genetic makeup that you and I have, we need to constantly put anti-oxidants in our bodies. And it needs to taste good of course.

So what did I do? I went on the internet, learned all about nutrition and decided to grow my own organic food in my kitchen. This got my diabetes under control (yeah I got that from my dad's side of the family)

I lost the weight I needed to lose and I put my mind to living, not dying.

After my signature, you'll see a link to my youtube video channel. You'll see what I grow in my kitchen. One of the greatest anti-cancer fighters is broccoli sprouts. Look it up on the internet.

I eat superfoods (look that up too). I am now in my 60's and am in better shape than when I was in my 40's. It's ALL because of what I put in my mouth.

There are no guarantees in this life. I decided to do the best I could do and if I ever did get some other condition, then I would be in better shape to fight that condition. But so far, so good.

It's cheap, it's fun, it's feeds me and my husband and we also eat a plant based diet. If you think about it, look at all the preservatives that are on the shelves in the stores. I don't go near that stuff. I eat REAL FOOD. Not some thing in a container, in a plastic bag, etc.

So when you get a chance, just look at some of my sprouting videos, or go online and google "Benefits of Sprouting"

This, for me, was the single best thing I did for my body.

And if you decide it's not for you, then try going organic. No pesticides, no chemicals, no preservatives. etc.

Hey, you never know!!

All the best,
Melody
