Thanx for the update Lachiche!
It's unbelievable how some medical pros diagnose things!
To say that it's just 'stress' is frustrating, to say the least. Surely they can do better than THAT!

It can be difficult to get them to comprehend what you are trying to say and sometimes we have to visit several doctors before finding one that latches on and sees that there really IS something going on here. Eventually tho, the right person will come along and things will begin to unfold for you. At least this is my hope.

Others will have some input. Please keep us posted.

Caring,
Rae

Thank You so much for listening this is what i plan to do to keep going until i find the right neurologist there are some good doctors out there not all of them is terribble, so far i have two Drs. he just prescribe me brutal asprin for headaches, and clonazepam medicine he just says for what ever that is take this it should stop . so now i'm sitting here with 3 meds to take. two for my headache which one is prescribe from my first dr. who said its just stress and depression so she prescibe me Amitriptyline for my headaches during night. so after the test at the hospt for seizures she took me off of them and left me with the headache medicine to take. I forgot to mention they had me on the monitor as well ,so she saw everything and still went with her own decision , so here iam still looking for the right dr. I had a epilipsy testing done on me . so i will keep up dating u guys ok , This group is really helping me out to know its others out there who is going through the same thing as well .with out this i will be sad because no one under stands they cant see it the symptoms so there fore your looking like a liar to them and thats what hurt the most when people start looking at u crazy because they dont see u when your body acts up with the post concussion and thats to me makes a person feel sad and down , so anyways enough about me for now i have to go talk lata i will stay strong.

Wink

Although I would encourage you to continue to look into it, I wanted to mention that 1 year ago I had an allergic reaction to a bee sting and while I was being filled up with benadryl and medicines I became very faint and nauseous, and started tremoring so violently, with trembling in the muscles of my limbs you could actually see, that the whole hospital bed was shaking. And I couldn't stop it. By and by it calmed down and then a few days later after I went home I became extremely nauseous again, clammy, feeling cold, very very faint and tremors. I thought I was dying, actually. A friend was calling my mom when it hit and mom told her I was begging to be taken to the hospital and she handed me the phone and said my friend said "You are having a panic attack (she listed all my symptoms without even having to ask what they were) If you go to the hospital, they'll run tests on you just to tell you that you are perfectly fine. Because you are." And as soon as she told me that, the symptoms started disappearing!
Since then I've still dealt with them, when I'm already worried (which if I'm honest is most of the time) and I start worrying about my health, (once when I thought I had food poisoning, that one ended with me fainting, and then when I had my post concussion syndrome starting up, which is why I'm here, and I didn't know what it was- it was very very frightening) the symptoms would return, uncontrollable trembling, feeling locked up, nausea, cold, perhaps sweating. Sometimes I know what's happening and I can talk myself down from it, sometimes when my fears are just getting the best of me I can't. I'm going to be looking into getting counseling to help me, maybe there's a medication that's very good at helping control panic attacks. I don't want to live at the mercy of this.
I've learned that they are NOT the same as anxiety attacks, I've had those before too. Anxiety attacks are uncontrollable emotions wreaking havoc with how well you can function, while panic attacks can happen when you feel fine but deep down you're afraid and your body begins to react to that as though you're absolutely, utterly, completely petrified.
NOW, I do not know for sure if this is what you have been dealing with. I am not a doctor. BUT since you've had tests done that show nothing wrong, the doctors say "stress", and the symptoms are so very similar to mine, I wanted to mention it.
Remember to relax and be kind with yourself from time to time, we all need it. Sometimes when I'm relaxed enough to enjoy myself, I just start crying and crying. But that's still good- I've got a lot bottled up inside. I used to think I was one of the strongest people I knew, almost blessed with emotional and spiritual strength. But then when I started dealing with things that really incapacitated me, I found out that we're never as strong as we think we are. All we have to do is be JUST strong enough. And that's much easier.
So, keep getting those tests if that will make you more at ease. But don't discount the possibility that you just need to let go of some "worry" habits (like me!) and be good to yourself. I have my concussion too and I'm just taking it one day at a time and changing my perspective.

Hi - I just want to say that I agree with Rose on "counseling". I'm a mom of a 14 yr old boy who has been recovering from Post Concussion Syndrome along with second impact syndrome (when you receive additional concussions before the initial one has healed). It 's hard enough to be fourteen, but to get better and then go backwards more than once is very traumatic emotionally. The fear of re-injury and possible trauma can create panic attacks and severe depression. The last setback created disassociated thoughts and 24/7 fear. The best thing that we could do (besides lots of tears and LOTS of prayer) was to connect him with a calm, understanding counselor who works with adolescent teens.
He has welcomed it and he has found a lot of comfort talking to someone other than his parents and he finds that getting those thoughts out in the open is healing and validating that "their not weird" - which is what you think when you are stuck in your own head.
Magnesium and chamomile tea are natural that can calm you a little. We drink a magnesium powder that is called CALM that we mix like a tea. It calms him before he goes to bed. You can get in on line. We love **

Hope that this helps,
Tina Sullivan

Nourish,

I think you have a wrong understanding of Second Impact Syndrome. It is not getting a second concussion before the previous concussion is healed. It is getting a second concussion before the brain has recovered its ability to control blood pressure and blood flow. This can result in life threatening pressure in the skull that tries to push the brain into the brain stem opening. It usually results in coma and unless the pressure is relieved, death soon follows.

What you are incompletely alluding to is Multiple Impact Syndrome. MIS is where multiple concussions accumulate to cause damage beyond the brains ability to recover. Every concussion causes some damage that never heals. With repeated concussions and sub-concussive impacts, the cumulative damage extends beyond any reasonable ability to recover. The adolescent brain is much more susceptible to MIS since it is working overtime trying to mature.

But, this sidetracked discussion belongs in the TBI/PCS forum.

Ies, counseling is helpful, especially with someone who has a thorough understanding of the condition. There are very few who understand PCS and MIS very well.
