Default n00bie from TX

Thank you for having this site, I'm feeling at the end of my rope lately...I've tried working but the stress and pain is to much for me to handle a lot of the times. My husband doesn't understand this at all, thinks I can control it and recently gave me an ultimatum "work or we will divorce" ... We can't afford to put me on his insurance and I've tried for SSI/Disability three times now and have been denied (reason is lack of work credits I think, I've mostly stayed at home with my kids and haven't had to work). I have Trigeminal Neuralgia which I was told was caused by my Multiple Sclerosis, I am also very OCD and Bipolar. I want to work, but it's overwhelming and difficult for me. Anyways, just wanted to say hello and thank you for this forum! It's always nice to know I'm not alone, although I wouldn't wish any of this on anyone.

Default hello mardonia

I want to say hello and welcome you to Neuro Talk. This is a compassionate group of people you found. Please feel free to talk to any of us. I am sorry that you are having such a hard time. With the medical conditions you have, it would seem that working would indeed be difficult. Perhaps a third person could tell the one making demands on you, that you need to go a bit slower. You didn't ask to get the medical conditions. It seems like there is a little guilt being put on your shoulders where it shouldn't be. I would give anything in the world to go back to work. Not everybody can. I do not know what you can do after being turned down for disability. Did you have an attorney to represent you?, or did you do the process by yourself?. Did you actually get to court? You may want to try a womens center for resources. Perhaps a part time placement would ease you back into the work force. How many quarters were they saying you lacked? I was just about in the same position, where my quarters worked were in question. I just squeeked by. I had been sick with auto immune problems most of my life and worked around the illness as an artist. I wish I could do something to help you get qualified. I am here to listen to you. Again, I am glad you found this site. It has helped me through some pretty tough times too. Take care, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. ginnie

Hi and thanks so much! I did not have an attorney, the first and second time (while in WV) my mom helped me fill out the forms and take me to appointments that were set up through SSI/Dis ... and third time (in TX) on my own which I got a quick denial. The letter sent with it said "You do not qualify for disability benefits because you have not worked long enough under Social Security."

Mardonia

I would look for a advocacy program, because I believe it sounds like
you should qualify for SSI, this is not a program where you have to have
worked at all. But in case you have some, then it would go in as a record
for further reference.

I can't link or I would, but there is a SSI forum here that might be of
help.

But I would be looking for a group that can help too in person.

Welcome to the forums.

Donna

Smile Hi Mardonia...

and welcome to NT!
Oh my heart goes out to you
Donna has a great suggestion and here's the SSI forum she is talking about:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...aysprune=&f=28

That forum is packed with helpful info and there are many caring people here at NT. There are other forums here also, which would really help you thru this difficult time.
Here's the Emotional Support forum:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=85

The Trigeminal Neuralgia:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=26

You've come to a good place and it's great to have you....

Caring,
Rae
