Default Why so many tests

Hello, I have been having lower back pain for 25 years. Now the pain is going down my left leg and it is becoming weak and numb. I have had 2 MRI's CAT Scans, x-rays, today a Meylogram and now the Doctor wants to do a discogram. I was told that my L5-S1 is a "shot" "black disc" and this is the cause for my pain, so why so many test. I am told that my pain should be down the right side instead of the left side...not sure what that means. Has anyone gone through all these tests and are they really necessary?

Smile Hello Zahaaa

Welcome to NT

My first thought on this is - you must have good insurance
I know how very frustrating this is, and still not getting any straight answers. It sounds as tho your Dr is trying hard to pin down a cause for your pain.
You might try looking into the Spinal forum - here is the shortcut link to get you there:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=22

Hopefully you can get some good information there.

There is plenty of support and understanding here. Please feel at home - you're among friends.

I hope things will get sorted out for you soon and that your pain can be managed properly.

Caring,
Rae
