Default Husband having ACDF surgery.

Hi, I have been reading some of the threads, pertaining to ACDF..

My husband will be having the surgery as soon as Workmens comp. finishes their paperwork (grrr!).

He is getting very nervous (me too) with all this waiting, since the Dr. advised him to have the surgery..I would appreciate any advice on how to make him more comfy after the surgery and any tips you all might have for me..or anything I should be aware of. thanks!!!!

Default Hi maggiemaye

Welcome to Neuro Talk. I am glad you found this site. This is a great bunch of people here who can help you with information and support. I came here looking for information with my upcoming surgery also. I had C3-7 repaired. I am wondering if you did get a second opinion?. It is always wise to do that when you have these conditions. After the surgery is alot of rest. I was not active at all for those first few weeks. The two week mark I felt alot better, and the pain from the surgery had diminished so that I was able to do more things for myself. In my case I did have alot of pain at first, but the medications I was given really did help. I have good resolution to my condition 21 months later. I am not perfect but the proceedure did help me. I wish you and your husband all the best. I hope his result is the best it can be. I hope you hear from some others as you move forward with your husbands surgery. ginnie

Smile Hello maggiemaye!

Welcome to NT!

It's wonderful of you to be out seeking support and information for your husband. We have a forum here specifically for "Caregiver's Support", and I'm sure you'll benefit from it....
Here's the shortcut link to get you there:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=56

Also we have a forum for "Work Comp", which I'm sure you'll find some good tips. I know how long it can drag on and it can be quite frustrating. Here's the Work Comp link:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=30

I wish you and your husband well and pray for a successful outcome.

Caring,
Rae

Thank you so much everyone, for the warm welcome.....

We have not had a second opinion, as of yet. He has had physical Therapy and spinal block, neither has worked...
