Hi,
I am 22 and I had TOS caused by an extra rib of the first rib that pushed on an artery on my right side and caused an aneurism in my should that sent blood clots into my arm and hand that eventually killed the radial artery in my arm that cut of blood to my hand. Being so young they didn't thinking about TOS until I had an arteriogram was done and they saw just what the problem was. By the time they figured it out (also before any real pain started happening I was studying abroad and the symptoms started right before I left, and was told it was tendentious and would go away quickly and no other tests could happen cause I left the country) every vein in my arm and hand had a blood clot in it and the blood clot in my radial artery had closed it off which killed the blood supply to my hand and killed that artery. The other artery was half way closed off by arm hand rewired smaller veins to my hand to try and keep it alive but my arm looked like I had had a stroke and I couldn't even pick up a piece of paper with my right hand. The doctor said if we had waited a week longer my arm would have been completely dead but by the grace of god I still have my right arm and hand. It has been about 7 months since the surgery which recovery was horrible I had two surgeries that were 5 hrs long each taking a vein from each of my legs that were placed in my right arm were the artery had died replacing it and the other around the aneurism. I had 9 incisions in all. Even thought it has been almost 7 months I still feel overly fatigued all the time is it because I'm still healing from all that happened? Its like I don't have the energy to do anything or the want to. I just feel very drained still and I want to be my happy energetic self once again. |
