Default TBI from a train accident

Hi all. Seriously, I got hit by a train on November 29, 2010. I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train (I should have listened to my mom when she said look both ways ).

Result was traumatic brain injury (TBI) and multiple fractures (pelvis, ribs, skull). I had a life saving craniotomy, surgery to repair an open book pelvic fracture, and a couple other surgical procedures. Anyway I spent 2 months in the hospital, 1 in ICU and 1 in neuro-rehab. After additional months of outpatient therapy, I'm pleased to say that my neuro-psych evaluation shows that cognitive functions are back where they should be; I still deal with periodic depressed moods but for the most part glad to be alive and looking forward to the rest of my life.

Since the accident I have become more interested in brain functioning, emotional well being and memory development. I'm also registered with the PsychCentral forums but I'm glad I found this site, since it has a forum on TBI.

I hope to learn from all of you, particularly trauma survivors.

Smile Hello Lightrail!

Welcome to NT!

You've come to a great place for support! I'm so sorry about your accident. There are alot of friendly folks over at the TBI forum, which I see you've found your way to.

Make yourself right at home! The format here is pretty much the same as our sister forum, so you'll do fine in navigating your way around.

It's great to have you!

Caring,
Rae
