Hi there.

I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Neurotalk. I'm sure others will come along (who have taken Topamax) and give you their feedback on it.

Again, WELCOME!!!

Melody

Hi there! Welcome to NT!
I have taken Tompamax, actually just went off of it since it is not working any longer. I was on it for several years and it helped me a great deal. I was on it for migraines and boy did it help, it cut down the frequency of my migraines drastically. I also have RSD in the right side of my face (one dr thought I had trigeminal neuralgia too). So the Tompamax was to help that as well. The most I took was 175 - 200mg per day, when I just went off of it I was at 150mg per day.

I have seen numerous posts on here about the terrible side effects and people calling it dopamax. Fortunately I did not experience those bad effects in the posts.

The only side effect I had was tingling in my hands/feet when I first went on it or increased the dosage. My neurologist told me to eat something with potassium (like a kiwi) everyday to stop the tingling - it worked!! The tingling was only temporary. It did curb my appetite briefly (unfortunately that didn't last).

I would still be on it if it hadn't stopped working.
