Default Stiff Person Syndrome

I have just been diagnosed with sps and have been scheduled to have the IVIG performed. I was wondering how effective it works.

Hi. I don't have any experience with SPS myself but I did read about it after seeing your post. There are many positive reports about the effectiveness of IVIG for SPS... for example, in one study it reports: "On the basis of a double-blind placebo-controlled trial conducted in SPS patients with high anti-GAD antibodies, IVIg was shown to be effective resulting in improvement of stiffness and heightened sensitivity scores and increasing the patients' ability to carry out daily activities."
I wasn't able to include the link to the study here, but if you google SPS and IVIG it will come up along with other positive examples like this.

Hopefully there is someone on this forum who has had experience with it
who will respond to you soon.
I am very hopeful for you. Let us know how it works for you.

Smile Hi Hettler!

Welcome to NT!

You've come to a great place for support and understanding.
I wish I knew more about IVIG, but I do know that there are folks here who have had this. While you wait for responses you might try using the 'search' feature in the bar toward the top of the screen. Type in the term and it'll bring up posts of past discussions that may be of some help.

Make yourself at home here. We're very down-to-earth

It's great to have you!

Rae

I've been on infusions for almost a year now. I can walk w/out a cane, also I don't fall as much. It has been great, however it comes w/it's own problems .

It's worth it!
