Angry Never have done this before

Good evening to all. I am new to this but my condition begin in 2005. I have had two back surgeries Lamiectomy and an XLIF. Now I need to have the T 5 thru the L5 fused. I am scared to death. I dislike operations, had 5 total. Used to play Div I football and majored in 3 sports in High School. Now 48 years old and falling apart. I can barely get out of bed in the AM. Pain is constantly 6-7 with 9-10 upon waking up! I need help.

Hello & welcome,

Did the sports cause most of the spine problems for you?
Or is it due to degenerative disk disease, or a combo of both?

I can tell you that my niece had 9 levels fused , hers was due to spinal scoliosis w/rotation, but she's doing well.

Default Hello David

Welcome!
My heart goes out to you as you describe this pain. We are the same age and I too was active and energetic. My pain condition started the same year yours did. I totally understand the frustration you feel. I hope you have means to good pain management. Nobody should have to be in this much pain. If you can get in with a pain mgmt specialist, it could make all the difference in your quality of life.

The support here is fantastic. I hope you stick around because you certainly are not alone. It really does help to have a supportive team to help get thru these tough times.

It's great to have you.
Caring,
Rae
