Default New Member Happy to Meet You and get help !

Hi ! Happy to meet all of you ! I am staring down the barrel of a 2 or 3 level ACD&F . I have a mess in my neck starting at C3-C7 . I have spondolysthesis (bone spurs) at all the levels disc bulging . C4-C7 have canal stenosis and cord flattening at C4-C7 with varing degrees of severity. Most of my "bad disease" is at the C5-C6 level and C4-C6 is really just a jumble of disc bulging canal stenosis foraminal narrowing and cord flattening. I have had numerous Epidural injections and had little relief from those. I am having varying degrees of radiculopathy in both arms, weakness, numbness and "dropsy's" in both hands. I have noticed as of late I have the feeling I can't swallow well and choke sometimes when eating. (HAVE NO IDEA if that is related). I am interested to know how everyone has done following the ACD&F at these levels and to hear opinions. I have been distressed to find out that I will basically be trading one pain for another pain, but really just stabilizing the affected levels. I hear the pain is sometimes no better just different. Also what is the opinion of Neurosurgeon Vs. Ortho Spince Specialists ? Thanks again and Nice to "see" you !

Default Hang in there.

Hi, Poodle Mom. I have had this surgery about 5 years ago. When is your surgery?

They worked on one side and turned me over and did the other side. I awoke in an ergo. chair with a holder for my head and neck.. I immediately knew that my pain from 15+ years was gone and I was dealing with only surgery pain.

I slipped and fell, well I summer-saulted down a long staircase in 91 when leaving work. I was at my very worst when I got the surgery. I had slept for all those years with an ice bag.

I also have fumbling fingers. Nerve damage, but it went away right after surgery.

Now I have to have more surgery, but it's not the fault of the surgery or surgeon. At the time he did surgery, it was unheard of to do that many levels.

My neck is a wreck too.

I checked and got the very best surgeon in my town. I was referred by my Fibro doc. Then I researched him every way I could. He's good.

Good luck and God Bless.

Malinda
