Default First time user with mysterious episodes!

Hi everyone!

This is my first post, and I'm so glad I found this forum. I've been having mysterious episodes for the past month, and so far medical science has come up with the official diagnosis of "I don't know."

I'm a stay at home mom of three young children, am a year away from completing my BA, I'm supposed to be applying to grad school, and have my own side business... in short I'm a very busy woman and don't have time for a mysterious illness!

I'll be posting elsewhere with my symptoms, but here's a quick synopsis: 3 times in the last month or so, about 10 days apart, I've had episodes/attacks of some mysterious symptoms. It starts with double vision, then in about an hour I develop severe tremors/shaking/convulsions in my arms. Sometimes my legs get twitchy as well. I develop a stuttering aphasia (but cognatively I have no problem thinking the words I want to say). This lasts about 5-6 hours, then the symptoms go away and I feel tired but otherwise fine.

My blood pressure doesn't go up, my heart rate stays normal, and I have no fever. (BP is 100/65, HR is 60 bpm, temp is 97.9). I've had CT scans, MRIs, MRAs (both with and without contrast dye), a LP, xray of my torso, EKGs, and had the arteries in my neck and heart examined as well as ultrasounds done of my heart done externally and internally. (BTW, I really don't recommend having a transbronchial ultrasound. Even under sedation, waking up was extremely unpleasant. And the LP resulted in severe spinal headaches that took TWO blood patches to resolve. I'd honestly rather go through natural childbirth again than have another blood patch!)

Thanks for listening, and if anyone has a clue as to what's going on, I'd appreciate it. I'm concerned that I'll have another episode while I'm alone with the kids and not be able to get to the hospital.

Smile Hello MomOfThree!

Welcome to NT!

You've certainly come to a great place for support and understanding. I'm so sorry about all these symptoms you are faced with. I can sure understand how frustrating it is not getting any answers.
Feel free to roam through the forums and post anywhere you'd like. Take note of the top section in most forums called the 'Sticky' section. Lots of good information!

Make yourself at home - you're among friends!

Caring,
Rae

Hi,

Glad you found NT.

This is a great place to come for answers. You're not alone. I do understand you have reason to be concerned. I would be, too.

I don't have any experience or a clue what's going on with you, so as a non-medical person, I can't advise on that. Sounds pretty scary.

While I do understand your frustration, at least take some comfort in knowing all those tests haven't shown up anything else that you could be dealing with, also. I mean, like tumors, cancers...

I hope you find lots of info here to help you.

Take care...
